Fox News: Sexist, Racist & Anti-Nurse
http://feministing.com/archives/008949.html#
Thanks to Sandra and Feministing for this post!! Regarding the actual story, it looks like the nurses are rightfully pressing charges against the clinic. The Chair of the Nurses Working Committee said, "We feel like ornaments in the skirts. We don't have freedom of movement and can't bend over to tend to patients. We are made to expose our bodies to do our work." Let's hope they get justice." Honor Andrea Dworkin Today
It was three years ago today 04/09/2005 that Andrea Dworkin died. Please do something today or in the next week that would make her smile. Speak up in a social situation, protest discriminatory images of race, gender and sexual orientation. Stand up speak out against the harm done through the growing sex industrial complex. Read or re-read Ice and Fire, Letters From a War Zone or Right Wing Women. We remember Andrea Dworkin and are forever grateful for her enormous contribution toward ending sexual violence.

Once a SuicideGirl Brand Always a SuicideGirl Brand
Many have heard of the SuicideGirls Website, which bills itself as an "alternative pornography" site where those featured claim to have some control over their diverse, edgy images that they post alongside a blog. Back in 2005 a popular Suicide Girl wrote in her blog how she felt underpaid for her pictures, she was "removed" for doing so, as were others for similar reasons. Their images remained online, as if the women were still maintaining them. Thus began legal battles that seem to remain unsettled. The site retains ownership of all images and continues to sell them regardless what the "girl" wants. SG owner, Sean Suhl, continues to post and profit from the images. The Suicide "contract" doesn't even allow them to model for other websites as long as their image remains on SG, else they face potential legal action. So much for female empowerment and the panache of alternative "DIY" social suicide. Sounds more like a pimp's exploitive greed. Recently, photographer Philip Warner, left Suicide Girls is now being sued by SG for $100,000 for his "competitive" website. The SG empire continues to gain MSM popularity through TV appearances, Peta Ads, and a burlesque shows which features SG girls being showered with what looks like blood -- ad nauseam.
