Obama Campaign to Launch “Generation Obama”

CHICAGO, IL- “Generation Obama,” or “GO,” is the Obama campaign’s newest organizing drive for channeling the energy and excitement of the youth generation into organized efforts to change America. GO chapters are local grassroots groups formed, run and maintained by supporters that will hold events every month. This network of young supporters, directly plugged into the campaign, will host creative low-dollar fundraising events, organize volunteers in early states, conduct voter registration drives, and help turn out the vote.

“This campaign has truly brought out a new generation of young people who are eager for change,” said campaign manager David Plouffe. “Obama’s youth support is thriving and Generation Obama will help turn interest and support into organizing action. GO chapters are a clear indication that Senator Obama has created a nationwide movement for change.

Throughout the campaign Barack Obama has enjoyed unprecedented nationwide grassroots support and GO is the next step in driving young people to play an active role with the campaign. The GO chapters will design their own organizing events in order to most effectively reach their communities. Future events could include basketball tournament or bowling outing fundraisers, community service events or house parties centered around discussion of issues important to their communities. The chapters will be able to connect and share event ideas with chapters across the country through the GO website at: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/gohomepage

Senator Barack Obama will host the Generation Obama launch event in Miami this Saturday. Twenty other GO chapters will launch their groups simultaneously with events in cities and towns across the country. Senator Obama will speak to young supporters at Mansion in South Beach on Saturday where he will discuss not only the importance of involving young voters in the political process, but the need for Generation Obama to act in their communities.

The following cities are some of the GO chapters launching this weekend
Miami, FL
Chicago, IL
Los Angeles, CA
Huntsville, AL
St. Louis, MO
San Francisco, CA
Salt Lake City, UT

And more….

From New Times:
Obama for Loose Change
BY RAINA MCLEOD
The 2008 presidential election is still more than a year away, but the campaign trail is already buzzing. Whether they love him or hate him, Americans want to know more about Barack Obama. He’s something like a rock star, gracing the covers of magazines and inspiring hot chicks to pen songs in his honor.

But not even his undeniable good looks, charm, and semichiseled body have distracted America from the real issues. Elephants, donkeys, and independents alike want to know Obama’s stance on education, health care, gay marriages, yadda yadda yadda. Whether you’re wondering about his position on immigration laws or simply wondering if he’s really that hot in person, he’ll be at Club Mansion tonight from 6:00 to 9:00 for an event benefiting Obama for Change. He’ll be speaking about the issues and getting clubgoers and celebrity guests hyped about politics. Now that’s what we call rocking the vote. Tickets cost $100, $25 for students. Ages 21 and older are welcome. RSVP at www.my.barackobama.com/gbomiami. Call 305-442-7464 or e-mail FLFinance@barackobama.com for more info.

It will ask who referred you. That's me :)

Senator Obama will be in South Florida on August 25th for an event in Miami Beach at Mansion night club! This event is being hosted by Generation Obama Miami and will have national press coverage as the campaign rolls out its newest grassroots organization – Generation Obama! Generation Obama is the young professionals arm of the campaign but the event is open to everyone over the age of 21!

We may be seeing less of Senator Obama in FL in the coming months as the campaign nears the end of the year and Obama will have to spend more time in early primary states like Iowa and New Hampshire so this could be one of your last opportunities to hear and see the Senator before the primaries.

Please follow this link: https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/gomiami for all of the event details and to buy tickets today! If you have any questions, would like host information or are interested in hosting a VIP table, please contact Jessica Clark at Jessica.Clark@barackobama.com or (305) 442-7464. Opportunity to have dinner with Barack Obama....

Let me know if you contribute.... :)
https://donate.barackobama.com/dinner

Message from Barack Obama...
A couple of weeks ago I sat down to dinner with four supporters like you.

Christina, Haile, Margaret, and Michael each made a small online donation, and we flew them across the country for some good food and good conversation.

What I enjoyed most about this dinner was the opportunity to listen to the stories and concerns of ordinary Americans in a relaxed environment. Out on the campaign trail, there isn't always time for that kind of interaction.

Last week we started planning our second dinner, and on Friday evening at 6:42 pm, a woman named Dorothy Unruh of Lakewood, Colorado made a donation.

I'm pleased to announce that Dorothy will be one of my guests for the second dinner. You could join us if you make a small donation before 11:59 pm tomorrow, Tuesday, July 31st:

https://donate.barackobama.com/dinner

Here's what Dorothy told us about herself:

I'm a senior citizen fed up with the current state of our government. I'm sad that our great nation has lost its stature in the eyes of the rest of the world. I have been a registered Republican for years, but recently officially changed parties so I can attend the Democratic caucus and help elect Senator Obama. He is like a breath of fresh air to my husband and me.
Dorothy has never taken part in a political campaign before, but she and millions of other voters who want change are going to be the key to Democratic victories up and down the ballot next year.

I'm looking forward to having dinner with Dorothy, but there are still three seats left at the table. Will you be in one of them?

If you make a donation by 11:59 pm tomorrow, Tuesday, July 31st, you could join us for dinner very soon:

https://donate.barackobama.com/dinner

We'll pay for your trip and the meal -- all you need to bring is your story and your ideas about how to make this a better country for all Americans.

Small donations from ordinary Americans have set our campaign apart and allowed us to reject the influence of Washington lobbyists and special interest groups. Not only is your support the key to our success, it's essential to reclaiming a government that is of the people, by the people, and for the people.

I hope you will make a donation now and participate in this opportunity. Take ownership of your part in this campaign and strengthen your role in our movement.

Together we can put an end to pay-for-influence politics. We can turn the page in Washington, and it all begins with you.

Thank you for your support,

Barack Obama
