This month's feature foreign film, sponsored by the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and Downtown Hollywood, is "The Road Home." Subtitled in Chinese, the movie tells the story of Luo Yusheng who returns to his home village in Northern China for the funeral of his father. During the traditional burial ceremony of carrying his father's body back to his home village, Yusheng recalls the magical story of how his father and mother met. 2007 Florida Coastal Cleanup

Be one of the local volunteers who will spend their morning collecting litter and debris from the Miami-Dade coastline. It's all part of the 22nd Annual International Coastal Cleanup sponsored by the Ocean Conservancy and supported by local businesses. World Flight Adventure Gala

Celebrate the amazing round-the-world flight with Florida Memorial University senior Barrington Irving, the youngest person and the first of African descent to ever to fly solo around the globe. This Jamaica-born young man found his passion for flying at age 15, spending free time doing odd jobs at the airport to pay for flying lessons. Over time he earned his private, commercial and flight instructor licenses and instrument rating, readying him for his famous world flight. The aircraft he used was assembled by airplane manufacturer Columbia after Barrington got all the components donated by various manufacturers. The celebratory dinner will benefit the nonprofit he founded in 2005, Experience Aviation, Inc., which guides and encourages youth pursuing careers in aviation and aerospace. Tickets are $125 and $60 for students with valid ID.

In these unique evenings of programming the Miami City Ballet will give the audience a behind-the-scenes look at some interesting topics related to the company. The company currently has three sets of siblings: two sisters, two brothers and a pair of twin sisters. In this edition of "Dancer's Journal," the theme is Dancer Siblings and audiences will hear from these talented dancers and also see them perform. In addition, the Company will show excerpts from "Rubies" the fiery section of George Balanchine's ballet "Jewels" (soon to be performed in full during Program I of MCB's repertory season). The evening includes an open bar reception in MCB's lobby from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and then the Open Barre performance and lecture from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.

Peruse "Material Terrain: A Sculptural Exploration of Landscape and Place," an imaginative, thought-provoking exhibition that explores the uneasy relationship between the natural and constructed world. It features large-scale, mixed-media works by eleven artists, who employ diverse materials and techniques. Dominique Nahas, an independent curator, critic, and contributor to Art in America, will present the lecture "Telling Land: Mapping Territories in Contemporary Art" at 7 p.m. Following the lecture will be a reception with light fare, music by UM Jazz Duo and cocktails provided by Bacardi. Opening Reception for Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons

Meet Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons and preview the first touring mid-career survey of one of the most influential Afro-Cuban artists of our time. Her show, "Everything is Separated by Water," features approximately 17 major works that include mixed media installations and large-format Polaroid photographs. This body of work spans 15 years (1990-2005), and explores the artist's ancestral displacement from Africa, her self-imposed exile from Cuba, and her experience as an Afro-Cuban woman living in North America. The reception also features a live performance by the artist Dry Eyes Wet Feet/Ojos Secos Pies Mojados. Bring a blue ribbon to the opening reception and contribute to the artist's live presentation. Israel "Cachao" Lopez: 80 Years in Music

He performs his favorite compositions as guest artists pay tribute and honor his work with modern renditions and collaborations by music's brightest stars. Take a journey through three decades of history-making music at this special one-night only performance of the original stage band for James Brown shows and back-up band for James Brown recordings. There are a few new additions, however the raw, unadulterated Funk and Soul that made James Brown the Godfather of Soul is present. David Hudson brings his own unmistakable flavor to hits like "It's a Man's World," "Cold Sweat," "Pass the Peas," "Get Up Off of that Thang" and of course, "Say it Loud." Wes Hargrove also contributes with her Smash hit "You better think," as well as singing back-up. Experience it all in the Studio Theatre at Carnival Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $37. The South Beach Chamber Ensemble presents "Music in Motion," piano trios by Guerre-Peixe, Bernstein Seixas and Piazzolla featuring Thomas Moore, violin, Michael Andrews, cello, and Licia Lucas, piano.
