POSITION OVERVIEW:

The VP of Communications will be a key member of the Sports Illustrated senior management team and will be tasked with repositioning the Sports Illustrated story with both its consumer base and trade partners. He / She will create a more cost efficient and compelling communications strategy to continue to help message the brand in the most compelling and meaningful way.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The VP of Communications is responsible , in partnership with the senior management team for developing a best in class progressive communications function that manages all aspects of Sports Illustrated communications needs and opportunities across all media platforms and inclusive of Media Relations , Corporate Communication and Public Relations.

• The VP of Communications will manage the communications team (inclusive of one direct report) in the execution of all communications deliverables across the Sports Illustrated Group.

• He / She will plan and implement an ongoing marketing and communications campaign to further propel the SI brand

• He / She Partner with Time Inc and Time Warner Corporate Communications teams on all relevant enterprise communication initiatives
• He / She will raise ongoing awareness and generate “buzz” about Sports Illustrated across all the media platforms

• The VP Communications will Increase visibility and awareness of SI initiatives across consumer, business and trade audiences


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned communications executive and will demonstrate a record of progressive responsibility and accomplishment in driving a communications strategy in support of a compelling brand.


• Minimum of 7 to 10 years experience in all facets of Corporate Communications.
• Demonstrated success with crafting compelling communications strategies and managing a communications department.
• Analytical/strategic thinker, creative problem solver, resourceful, able to initiate change and motivate innovation and creativity
• Internal team-builder; ability to lead and manage initiatives across multiple departments. Proven ability to manage through conflict, driving groups to collective business decisions
• Minimum of 3-5 years management experience with outstanding leadership skills, ability to initiate and provide clear direction to teams supporting any and all communications initiatives
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Dynamic individual who works well within corporate and creative environment
• Hard working and tenacious


Education

A Bachelors’ degree from an accredited and recognized institution of higher learning is required with an advanced degree (MBA, equivalent) ideal.

Compensation

Sports Illustrated intends to attract a superior and world-class Communications executive, and is prepared to offer an attractive compensation package including a base salary, plus bonus.

OVERVIEW
OnSpot Digital Network is a 50/50 venture between Publicis Groupe, the world's fourth largest communications company, and Simon Property Group, the largest publicly traded retail real estate company in North America. OnSpot Digital Network, launched in May 2006, is a digital media channel that transmits digital advertising via broadband networks to air on high-definition plasma displays in premier Simon Mall locations. OnSpot Digital Network has been launched in 50 malls in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and other major markets across the U.S. Plans are to grow to 100 mall locations within the 12-18 months.

OnSpot enhances the shopping experience by airing messages not only visually but audibly, and by airing content designed specifically for these point-of-sale locations. OnSpot's state-of-the-art, digital, high-definition screens are positioned at strategic locations throughout the malls, including major entrances, center courts, food courts, escalators, major corridors and other high traffic areas, to ensure high frequency and optimal consumer contact.

OnSpot segments incorporate lifestyle, news, entertainment, shopping center and
advertising content that will appeal to an estimated 500 million shopper visits per year at the 50 malls served by the new network.

OnSpot is headquartered in Chicago and led by Simon Badinter, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Publicis’ Medias & Regies Europe and North America, and Stewart Stockdale, Chief Marketing Officer, Simon Property Group and President, Simon Brand Ventures. Position Summary
The Vice President of Marketing is a newly created role for an experienced marketing professional with deep and expert knowledge across all marketing disciplines.

We are looking for a candidate who has an entrepreneurial spirit and has a proven track record of building a brand, driving business and delivering sustainable, profitable growth in a developing and competitive industry.

This executive will be responsible for setting the overall go-to-market strategy for OnSpot Digital Network, and must be experienced in utilizing all resources such as market research, competitive intelligence and other analytic tools to understand the business challenges in this market segment. The Vice President of Marketing will work closely with the Sales team to ensure an aligned effort with respect to the methodology and pricing strategy for advertisers.


They will also work with Sales to identify key client targets and categories for business growth. They will supervise a Marketing Manager and oversee the development of creative and marketing materials that support sales team’s presentations and enhance the OnSpot brand.

This role is based in New York and reports directly to Simon Badinter.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- The ideal candidate will have eight to ten years of experience in marketing from a media-related industry – having worked directly for an advertiser, at a media agency, or with a TV/cable, radio, internet, print or Out-Of-Home network.
- Broad experience with a full range of contemporary marketing tools including strategic development and planning, budgeting, business analysis, advertising, marketing research, creative development, etc.
- Very analytical – can analyze market/client/competitive data to formulate action plans, follow-up and tools for furthering growth.
- Strong understanding of the advertising/media business.
- Strong organizational, planning and problem solving skills
- A team player who also works well in an entrepreneurial environment.
- A high-energy, detail-oriented individual with strong and persuasive communications/presentations skills
- BA/BS degree required, preferred in Business, Marketing or Advertising.
