Skinny Thursdays Happy Hour
The recent rains have many South Floridians speculating we might be in for a long, wet summer. If you find yourself caught in a storm, feel free to take shelter inside a nice, safe bar. Just make sure it's during happy hour, in case you need to stay a while!

There are plenty of sky-high cocktail hours serving up vertigo views alongside dizzyingly delicious drinks. For luxury at its finest, Michelle B imbibes at Club 50, where "the cocktails are innovative, service impeccable and overall the place is just breathtaking!" Even more exciting is their wine tasting & art series, like the one this evening from 5-7pm featuring a complimentary wine tasting with cheeses, charcuterie and a photo exhibit by Venessa Monokian! For a more old Florida experience, check into the historic Angler's Hotel for double dose specials on tastily-named drinks like the White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Martini, Guava Cava, and Face Down In The Pool. Talk about drowning your sorrows!

Sure, South Beach has had more water views than desired of late, but instead of wading it out, why not wait it out with 2-for-1 drinks (Tues-Fri 5-8pm) at Red, The Steakhouse? Meanwhile, at Meat Market, Stephanie L orders a lychee/passion martini, a "good choice," especially considering that everyone gets a second round on the house during their Friday Meat and Great! Just one more reason to love Fridays. At La Cofradia, find Michael S diving into their new pisco sour hour with discounted selections of tiraditos, anticuchos, croquettes, and ceviches "so fresh they taste like they just jumped from the sea to your mouth." Best of all? Their legendary pisco sours will have you puckering up to the bar at only $5-7 a pop.

Across town, Local 55 (formerly known as News Lounge) is celebrating its recent change with half-off well drinks and beers starting at $2.50 weekdays from 5-9pm. Here's to hoping the "hip but not too cool" vibe that Esther C liked about the old space remains the same! Also in the MiMo district, on the first floor of the American Legion Post 29 building, is Harvey's, an old-fashioned, salty dog of a bar. With free pool and well drinks and wine starting at $3.50, it's easy to see why Joseluis A fell in "love at first Glenlivet." Ahh, summer romances!

Reviews we liked this week.
Marcos R. on Scotty's Landing
"Scotty's is perfect for a weekday happy hour retreat or a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The bar, itself; looks like it was transplanted from Key West. A lot of sea aged wood and island rum on the shelves.

The gist: A happy and salty bar & grille on the water. 'Nough said!

: )"
Brandon B. on The DiLido Beach Club
"I came to DiLido for Friday happy hour and I thought it was great. I hadn't been to DiLido for awhile due to the psychology of it being in the Ritz, but its actually not very expensive at all. Drinks at happy hour are $7, which is expensive for happy hour, but worth it for the location, the…"
Florence Y. on Tobacco Road
"So I went there for happy hour on Friday evening...96 cents specials...and free appetizers when you get 2 drinks? They had cheeseburgers...mini ones! YUMMY! I was impressed.

96 cents for 2 or 3 different types of beer
$1.96 for vodka, gin, quervo and miller light (draft)
