Senator Obama will be in South Florida on August 25th for an event in Miami Beach at Mansion night club! This event is being hosted by Generation Obama Miami and will have national press coverage as the campaign rolls out its newest grassroots organization – Generation Obama! Generation Obama is the young professionals arm of the campaign but the event is open to everyone over the age of 21!

We may be seeing less of Senator Obama in FL in the coming months as the campaign nears the end of the year and Obama will have to spend more time in early primary states like Iowa and New Hampshire so this could be one of your last opportunities to hear and see the Senator before the primaries.

Feel the love at Touch Restaurant's fundraising drive for the restaurant's Chef de Cuisine, John Lucente, Jr., who has been stricken with cancer. Lucente is undergoing an intense course of chemotherapy treatment at New York's Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. This is Lucente's third attempt to eliminate his cancer. "Touched by John" will include a fundraising dinner and a silent auction featuring travel, spa and restaurant rewards. "John is a wonderful person and a talented chef," said David Tornek, Touch's founder and owner. "We want him to know that his friends, his colleagues and his neighbors are rooting for his speedy recovery."

The Reach for the Stars Foundation and BICE Ristorante in the Le Meridien resort in Sunny Isles Beach are hosting a fundraiser that includes complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction and live music. Located on the lobby level, the restaurant has sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. One-hundred percent of the evening's proceeds will go to Reach for the Stars, an organization dedicated to providing people and families afflicted by cystic fibrosis with resources, knowledge and support.
