The Police going 'Unplugged' in MiamiFriday the 13th isn't supposed to be a lucky day, but it will be for a few people in South Florida -- they will get to see The Police perform in an MTV Unplugged concert July 13 in Miami.An MTV spokeswoman on Monday confirmed that the renowned '80s rockers, in the midst of a heavily hyped reunion tour that will bring them to Miami's Dolphin Stadium on July 10, will tape one of the music channel's popular acoustic concerts. The show will air in the fall.MTV would not say where The Police taping would take place, other than to say it was an even smaller venue than the usually intimate settings of the informal concert series. ''We only have room for two photographers,'' said MTV publicist Mariana Agathoklis. The group had been scouting locations in South Beach.The Police play Tampa's St. Petersburg Times Forum on July 11, then have two days free until a show July 14 in Louisville, Ky.The MTV Latin America offices on Lincoln Road have a track record of producing Unplugged shows in Miami for the Latin market, including recordings with Ricky Martin, Alejandro Sanz and La Ley.The acoustic concerts usually have been taped at warehouses or production studios for a tightly controlled, invitation-only audience of fans and VIPs.
