Sleepless Night November 3 2007

Spectacular Line-up for Sleepless Night
World-class Art, Culture and Entertainment Planned Citywide in One Night

“Levity II” Luminarium (Zone 2)
Set your clocks now to fall back and culture forward because Sleepless Night will be in Miami Beach in the blink of an eye. From dance performances and sculpture gardens to live bands and street parades, the free, innovative cultural affair will awaken at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, and will not rest until sunrise at 6:00 a.m. the next day. That will actually be 13 hours – not 12 – due to the end of Daylight Savings Time when the clocks will be set back to 1:00 a.m. at 2:00 a.m., resulting in an extra hour.

This innovative citywide showcase of culture first began internationally when Paris hosted the first Nuit Blanche event in 2002. The success of the event in Paris has made it an annual city celebration and has become an international trend, spreading to cities such as Rome, Madrid, Brussels, Toronto, and now, for the first time in the United States in Miami Beach – a city known as a global trend-setting destination.

Sleepless Night is a collaboration of all the city’s major cultural institutions, theaters, galleries and arts organizations, along with hotels, shops, nightclubs, restaurants, and individual artists and presenters. Every medium of cultural expression will be represented simultaneously during Sleepless Night – all presented without admission charge.

The following zones represent where events will be held throughout the night:

Zone 1: North Beach
Normandy Fountain, North Beach Band Shell, North Shore Park and the Byron Carlyle Theater.

From dance performances at the fountain to a giant rainbow, the northern gates of Miami Beach will be beating with theatrical “Aromas” and world rhythms.

Zone 2: Collins Park
Collins Park, Rotunda, Bass Museum of Art, Miami Beach Library, Miami City Ballet Studios, and the beach.

From the park to the beach, the cultural campus will surround itself with lifting and animated premiere performances. Enjoy a sneak preview of the Florida premiere of Spiegel’s internationally recognized tantalizing provocateurs and get into high fashion, high energy with the Miami Modern Luxury fashion show.

ArtCenter / South Florida (Zone 3)

Anglers Resort Hotel, hosting
The Miami Jazz Project (Zone 4)
Zone 3: Lincoln Road
Recognized as one of the hottest shopping and dining destinations in the country, Lincoln Road is also known as a cultural center of South Florida. Sleepless Night brings to you performances from the New World Symphony and multi-platinum Grammy Award-winning producer/composer/songwriter Rudy Perez with special guests to take over Miami Beach. Stroll the infamous Española Way to see live performance enhancements of silent firm classics by the Miami Beach Film Society and Cinematheque, or enjoy some of South Florida’s finest exhibits at ArtCenter / South Florida.

Zone 4: Ocean Drive & Washington Ave
Wolfsonian-FIU, Jewish Museum, World Erotic Art Museum, Lummus Park, Ocean Drive and the beach.

In the heart of the Art Deco District, the innovative and fashion-forward couture from world-renowned designer Barbara Hulanicki will walk the runway throughout the night while the creatures of the night come alive with a grand procession of giant specimens and live music.
