Hiring VP of Production and Dev for TV‏ in NYC

We are conducting an executive search for the VP of Production and Development. Candidates must have successfully developed and produced at least one television show that has been picked up by a television distributor within the last couple of years. Must have a proven track record of taking shows from idea to finished product that has been distributed on television. Position will be located in New York City. Candidates must already live within commuting distance to Manhattan or be willing to relocate. Working remotely is not an option. Client is willing and able to put together the right package for the right candidate. This is a key hire. Company is very well funded by three top tier VCs and some very prominent names in the media and music industries. Company is already working with some of the most famous artists and brands in the music and entertainment industries.

POSITION: VP of Production and Development. This is a management position. Initially, you will have two people reporting to you.

COMPANY: Company is very well funded by three top tier VCs and some very prominent names in the media and music industries. Company is already working with some of the most famous artists and brands in the music and entertainment industries.

LOCATION: The company is located in NYC (Manhattan). Candidates must already live within commuting distance or be willing to relocate. Working remotely is not an option.

COMPENSATION: Total cash compensation will be between $100k-130k plus stock options and full benefits package.

MANAGEMENT STYLE/CORPORATE CULTURE: This position reports to the COO. He will only hire someone who is a team player and does not need to be micromanaged. Basically, he prefers to agree to a set of objectives making sure that the objectives are clearly outlined and understood by the individual, then let the individual execute the plan. But, he expects the individual to keep him informed of progress. Individual must be able to go the COO when in need of help. He will only hire someone that is very independent, creative and passionate with a burning hunger for success; someone with a vision. He wants people with new ideas and strong opinions, but able to move in a fast paced, ever-changing start up environment. Culture is very entrepreneurial, team oriented and results focused. There is open communication and exchange of new ideas.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have successfully developed and produced at least one television show that has been picked up by a television distributor recently.

• Must have a proven track record of taking shows from idea to finished product that has been distributed on television.

• Must have an established network of freelance producers to produce the company’s TV programs.

• Must have an established network of idea generators to develop new shows for the company.

• Must be able to put in place internal production and develop processes.

• Prefer someone with an entrepreneurial spirit. Need someone who enjoys the entrepreneurial atmosphere of a small company. Experience working in a dynamic (i.e. “startup”) environment is preferred.
