POSITION: Director of Web Marketing. This is management position, but need
someone who will be hands-on. You will have no people reporting to you
initially. Need someone that can wear many different hats and lead by example.
Need someone with experience managing vendors. The company's business plans
calls for 30 total employees within the next year. At least 1/3 of those
employees will be in sales and marketing. Need someone who will be hands-on and
can just roll up their sleeves and get the job done.
COMPANY: Early stage technology company with about 15 employees which needs to
build up its marketing team. The company has built a mobile content delivery
platform and has a consumer facing website which is the easiest place to share
and sell mobile content. Through viral growth the company has created a great
way for big name brands targeting 18-24 year olds to reach their market via
mobile phones. The company is already generating revenues. Their growth rate is
about 30% month-over-month. Their website is generating close to three million
impressions a day on the web with more than 5 million mobile downloads per
month. This is an excellent opportunity to get in early just after the company
has closed its Series A financing.
LOCATION: Company is located in southern Florida. Prefer candidates already
living within commuting distance. However, the company will consider relocating
the right candidate. Working remotely is not an option.
COMPENSATION: Compensation will include an annual base salary in line with
experience level and market rates for a start-up company as well as equity
participation in the company. The company is willing to put together the right
package in order to bring on board the right candidate. Benefits include health
insurance and 401k.
MANAGEMENT STYLE/CORPORATE CULTURE: Currently, the position reports to the
CEO. Company will only hire someone who is a team player and does not need to
be micromanaged. Basically, the CEO prefers to agree to a set of objectives
making sure that the objectives are clearly outlined and understood by the
individual, then let the individual execute the plan. There will be frequent
and at least, weekly check points to measure and achieve success initially but
after that, as required, to set strategy and direction. Individual must be able
to go to the CEO when in need of help. CEO will only hire someone that is very
entrepreneurial and passionate with a burning hunger for success; someone with a
vision who is also coach-able. Corporate culture is very casual, open, and
honest. Team is very interested in the success of their product. Most of the
existing employees have been with the company from the early days and have
invested their own money and time into the company. They tend to act more like
a partnership. They have very blurred organizational boundaries; it is very
unstructured, but effective.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
-- Must currently hold (or within the last 12 months have held) a position as
Manager or Director at an Internet company and/or web-based company responsible
for brand management, public relations, lead generation, media buying, email
marketing, corporate website management and general guerilla marketing.
-- Must have someone that is very tech savvy. Need someone that can do mail
merges and use external direct email services. Need someone who understands
Microsoft Office Suite and has the ability to use many different web based
advertising tools.
-- Must have experience doing mass email marketing to fairly narrow vertical
markets such as radio stations, independent musicians, county fairs, high
schools, colleges, and virtually any niche market that has a website with photos
and/or music. Prefer someone with experience marketing to smaller internet
content companies and/or independent music websites, photo sites, video sites,
and any internet site that has pictures or music that needs to be downloaded to
mobile phones.
-- Would like to have someone who has established a brand or repositioned one.
Would like to have someone who has experience in the 18-24 marketplace. Would
like to have someone with product marketing experience (competitive analysis,
customer feedback leading to product enhancement recommendations).
-- Must be able to write and improve the copy of the corporate website and the
consumer facing website. Need someone who can manage the external relationship
with PR while managing care and customer feeding through our artist and user
newsletters.
-- Must have significant lead generation experience. Need someone that will be
good at data mining our existing user and content owner databases and then
create future lead generation strategies.
-- Must understand how widgets work in web marketing. Someone who can
successfully do guerilla marketing to drive as many widgets and other viral
marketing technologies to the web.
-- Experience working in a dynamic (i.e. startup, fast paced, high growth)
environment is preferred.

Bitter Sugar (Azucar amarga) (1996)
With René Lavan, Mayte Vilán, Miguel Gutiérrez
Director of Phtography: Claudio Chea
Somewhere between hope and despair, a beautiful relationship triumphs and
despite the odds, two people discover the true meaning of love in BITTER
SUGAR. Set against the volatile backdrop of modern-day Havana, Gustavo,
an idealistic honor student, Cuba's "new man" and Yolanda, a realistic and
beautiful young dancer, share little in common, especially their radically
opposing political views. But despite their differences they fall madly in love
while the world as they know it crumbles before them. Inspired by actual events,
director Ichaso, who co-wrote the film with Orestes Matacena, based the
screenplay on several people's lives, weaving fact and fiction into an emotional
compelling story. The result is a moving, gritty and realistic look at two
people whose passion and intensity cannot overcome their struggle.

Benjamin Bratt stars in this true story of ‘Nuyorican’ (Puerto Ricans living

precursor to rap and hip-hop music. This explosive Latino icon wrote the
1974 Tony-nominated play Short Eyes, which stemmed from his experience
of doing time in the hard-core Sing-Sing prison for petty thefts and drug
dealing. Pinero’s gift and success was hampered only by a fierce addiction
to heroin that was caused by his inability to deal with the sudden fame.

Message from Michael Moore: Sicko

"Sicko" in Top 5 Grossing Docs of All Time -- This Weekend it's "'Sicko' Night in America!"... from Michael Moore
Thursday, July 19th, 2007
Friends,
Good news! "Sicko," after less than three weeks in national release, has become one of the top five grossing documentaries of all time! So, this coming weekend, the distributor is expanding the movie by opening it in nearly 500 new theaters in small cities all over the country (for a total of nearly 1,200 screens nationwide)! From Rapid City to Carson City, from Gettysburg to Pearl Harbor, from Juneau to Battle Creek -- they're all getting "Sicko" tomorrow (Friday). Scores of cities that never have a documentary come to their local theater will now be able to see this one. It's happening all thanks to you who live in the larger cities and have supported "Sicko" so strongly. It's led the studio to say, "Let's make more prints and ship them to Oshkosh (and Beaverton and Brattleboro and Sault Ste. Marie and...)." The entire country goes "Sicko" in less than 48 hours! (Check here for the complete list of theaters showing "Sicko" in North America.)
So, friends, this is it. This is the weekend to go see "Sicko" if you haven't seen it. I get a lot of letters from people saying they plan to "get around" to seeing it "soon." Well, soon is here! Trying to get theaters to give us screens when we are up against huge summer blockbusters is an almost impossible task. "Sicko" won't be around forever. And if you're waiting for the DVD, ask anyone who's seen "Sicko" -- this is a movie you want to see with a crowd of people in a theater.
So let's pack the movie houses this weekend! Send an email to everyone you know, call your friends and tell them, "It's 'Sicko' Night in America!"
And, to show my thanks to all of you who'll go see "Sicko" this weekend, I'm going to send one of you and a guest on a free weekend to the universal health care country of your choice! That's right. You'll get to pick one of the three industrialized countries featured in the movie where, if you get sick, you get help for free, no matter who you are. All you have to do is send us your ticket stub (make sure it says "Sicko" on it and has the name of the theater and this weekend's date on it -- Friday, Saturday or Sunday - July 20th, 21st, 22nd). Attach the stub to a piece of paper with your name, address, phone number and email and send it to: 'Sicko' Night in America, 888c 8th Avenue, Suite 443, New York, NY 10019. (Yes, you have to use that old 18th century device called the U.S. Postal Service, and it has to be postmarked on or by Tuesday, July 24th). First prize is a weekend in the city of your choice: Paris, London or Toronto. This includes airfare, hotel, meals and, most exciting, a representative from their fine universal health care system who will give you a personal tour so you can see how they treat their fellow citizens. You'll meet people who pay nothing for college and citizens who are in the fourth week of their six-week paid vacation. Oh, and you'll have time to see the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben or whatever they have in Toronto that is old and tall. (If you don't have a passport, we'll pay for that, too!)
Canadians who are reading this -- you're probably thinking, "Hey, what about us? Where do we get to go?" Quit complaining! You're already there! But just to make it up to you -- and to prove we don't hold it against you for smugly walking out of a hospital with the same amount of money in your wallet that you went in with -- we'll let you participate in the drawing, too.
Thanks again to everyone who has gone to see "Sicko." Take a friend or two this weekend and celebrate "'Sicko' Night in America."
Yours,
Michael Moore

Friends,
MOCA's Optic Nerve Film Festival
Thursday July 26 at 7 and 9 p.m.MOCA's Optic Nerve Film Festival has been, and remains to be, one of the few venues for South Florida's independent filmmakers to submit short movies (from 50 seconds to 6 minutes in length). Now in its 9th year, Optic Nerve continues to spotlight a wide range of genres including: narrative, abstract, film-noir and animation, just to name a few. After the initial screenings, one of the undiscovered magnum opuses will be chosen by MOCA's panel of judges and purchased for the museum's collection with funds provided by Starbucks Coffee Company. In the past, winning Optic Nerve pieces have easily contested those of video installation experts that are mostly seen during Miami's annual Art Basel convention. Help keep independent filmmaking in Miami alive by supporting these innovative installments. General admission is $5 and the Optic Nerve screenings are free with museum admission. RSVP is required. Seating is limited and not guaranteed. Starbucks reception between the 7 and 9 p.m. screenings.

When the Levees Broke: Spike Lee Katrina film July 19

Free Conscious Cinema Film Screening: When the Leeves Broke As the world watched in horror, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans on August 29, 2005. Like many who watched the unfolding drama on television news, director Spike Lee was shocked not only by the scale of the disaster, but by the slow, inept and disorganized response of the emergency and recovery effort. Lee was moved to document this modern American tragedy, a morality play witnessed by people all around the world. The result is WHEN THE LEVEES BROKE: A REQUIEM IN FOUR ACTS. The film is structured in four acts, each dealing with a different aspect of the events that preceded and followed Katrina's catastrophic passage through New Orleans. Following the film on each night will be a hurricane preparedness course. This is a Family-Friendly event with a minimum age with an adult being 13. PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE.
