Passionately Pink for the Cure

Tuesday, October 2 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Ever After pays tribute to the life's work of Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang at this event to benefit the Komen Foundation's Passionately Pink for the Cure. Gallery exhibits showcase survivors' stories, silent auction, and fashion show featuring Ever After's luxury brands. Tickets, if purchased online are $50; and $75 at the door.

7th Annual Jessie Trice Cancer Prevention Benefit

Wednesday, October 3 at 6 p.m.

University of Miami President Donna Shalala (pictured) will be the special guest speaker at this benefit to honor cancer heroes who have advocated for the underserved. Awards will be given to Marvin O'Quinn, President and CEO of Jackson Memorial Hospital; John Schelble, former Chief of Staff for Congresswoman Carrie Meek (retired) and Congressman Kendrick Meek; and Alina Perez-Stable, former Executive Director of Camillus Health Concern. Tickets are $75.

Shop for the Cure Bazaar

Thursday, October 4 from 5 to 9 p.m.

More than 20 vendors will showcase fashions for kids and adults, accessories and gifts galore, all to benefit the Komen Foundation for breast cancer research. Musical entertainment will be provided by Rhythm City Productions, and shoppers will be treated to appetizers, desserts and wine as they browse the bazaar. The event organizers are Robin Molan, Founder of B Dazzled Jewels, and Lisa Tobin Jacobson, Director of Finance and HR for UM's Medical Group. Free metered parking is available for the event.

Federico Britos Celebration: 50 Years of Beautiful Music

Friday, October 5 at 8 p.m.

Grammy Award-winning producer Nat Chediak and Mitchell Kaplan of Books & Books present renowned violinist and composer Federico Britos, a virtuoso in all forms of jazz, as well as traditional Cuban music, tango, bossa nova, candombe and classical music. The performance commemorates the 25th anniversary of Books & Books with this salute to Federico Britos' career spanning 50 years. Joining Britos on stage will be bassist Esperanza Spalding, making her Florida debut with her group that includes percussionist Lynden Rochelle and pianist Leo Genovese. Special guests for the evening are legendary Cuban bass player Israel "Cachao" Lopez and Latin Grammy-winning tenor saxophonist David Sánchez. Tickets, available at all Books & Books locations and online, are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. This concert is produced by the Rhythm Foundation and co-sponsored by The Biltmore Hotel, Antonio Gijon Enterprises, Hispermusic, WDNA-FM and the Florida Center for the Literary Arts.

Putts for Paws Golf Tournament

Help man's best friend and join Paws 4 You Rescue for their first ever golf tournament. It's a four-man scramble with a shotgun start promptly at 2 p.m. Registration and lunch begin at noon. Individual golfer fee is $100 and includes greens fee, golf cart, gift bag, golf shirt, lunch, on-course refreshments and raffle tickets. The Rotary Club of Key Biscayne Foundation invites you to their 3rd Annual Key Biscayne Wine Tasting. Southern Wine & Spirits of South Florida will provide wines from some of the world's leading wine producing regions for tasting with savory delicacies prepared by the Key Biscayne Yacht Club's expert culinary staff. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on an array of unique and interesting auction items. The silent auction will be hosted and organized by the Association of Retarded Citizens, South Florida (ARC South Florida) and will include travel and restaurant packages, sporting goods and services, rare and must-have wines and much more. Special raffles will be held throughout the evening for select bottles of wines. Tickets are $75 at the door; credit cards welcome.
