HOT Projects

Arsht Center Volunteer Orientation
This orientation is required for all HOM volunteers interested in being ticket takers and/or ushers at Arsht Center for Performing Arts. At the orientation, volunteers will learn about the Arsht Center and the roles they will play as volunteers. The volunteer leader will also go over details of the project, benefits, and attire. Following this orientation, volunteer must attend an additional training session with the center. Performances for the month will be announced at the orientation. Training sessions and performances are not HOM projects. Project # 16

Money Talks
Come educate kids about finances at Regis House, a program for court- appointed teens. Topics include everything from balancing a checkbook to making investments. Help them find a better future! (2-4 volunteers) Project # 11

Here's Hope
Free on a Thursday night? Play games and enjoy after dinner refreshments with the residents of Here's Hope at the Salvation Army! Here's Hope serves clients living with HIV/AIDS. Volunteers must be 21 years and older. (10-12 volunteers) Project # 31

HANDS ON MIAMI DAY IS ON ITS WAY

Registration opens September 17th!
On Hands On Miami Day, Saturday, November 8th, more than 4,000 volunteers will paint, plant trees, create murals, and clean up neighborhoods, public schools, non-profit agencies and beaches throughout Miami-Dade.

Be a part of the impact volunteers will make on our community this Hands On Miami Day!

This day of community service celebrates Hands On Miami's and United Way of Miami-Dade's joint commitment to strengthen our community through neighborhood and civic engagement.

Check-in & breakfast: 8:15 am - 9:00 am
Project duration:9:00 am - 12:30 pm
Place: Starting September 17 you may choose your project site at www.handsonmiami.org
Donation: minumum $20/person.
Are YOU a Leader?

Take a lead with Hands On Miami and become a Volunteer Leader (VL) for a calendar project or new volunteer orientation! HOM is looking for a few good volunteers who are ready to step up to the plate and support projects as a leader. Starting in September, we will be holding monthly VL trainings. If you have any questions, would like to see a list of projects and orientations that are in need of VLs, or want to set up a one-on-one training, please contact Lucia Goyen at 305-646-7255 or Lucia@handsonmiami.org.

Hands On Miami is in need of donations of gently used or new project supplies to keep our projects running and successful!
If you have any of the items below that you can donate, please drop them off at our offices at 3250 SW 3rd Ave. Miami, FL 33129. Contact Lucia Goyen at Lucia@handsonmiami.org or 305-646-7255 to arrange drop off.

Veterans Housing
Rebuilding Together's Veterans Housing Initiative was created to meet the growing needs of veterans from past and present wars. The initiative serves to fill the gaps in housing modifications and repair services that retired and active service men and women struggle to meet. Working in partnership with corporate sponsors, Rebuilding Together's Veterans Housing Initiative strives to provide safe and accessible housing for all low-income veterans.
They are having a veterans event to paint 3 homes on the 13th of September and are in need of 45 volunteers willing to put in a half day of work on this rebuilding event. Rebuilding Together will provide materials, supplies and a house captain. CHC needs volunteers!
The Community Habilitation Center, (CHC), a non- profit dedicated to providing adult day training programs for people with disabilities, is hosting a fashion show, Runway through Time, and need volunteers to help with the event.
