Sight Night

Team Metro is trying to "scare up" used eyeglasses instead of candy this Halloween. The used eyewear will be recycled by Give the Give of Sight and Lions Clubs International and hand delivered to underprivileged people around the world. Women's Auxiliary Annual Awards Luncheon

Wednesday, October 31 at 11 a.m.

The Greater Miami Women's Auxiliary at the Miami Jewish Home & Hospital will honor longtime South Floridian Florence Hecht with the 2007 Pioneer Award given in recognition of selfless community service, and Marcia Zerivitz with the Woman of the Year Award for her dedicated community leadership. The luncheon begins with a cocktail reception at 11 a.m., followed by lunch at noon. Proceeds benefit "Love on Wheels," underwriting the services of 11 wheelchair transporters whose sole job it is to help the Home's frail and elderly move to and from activities on the campus.

Cocowalk Halloween Celebrations

Foster Care Review Lunch at Joe's Stone Crab

Indoor Fireworks Gala Kick-Off Party

14th Annual Hands On Miami Day

Saturday, November 3 from 8:15 a.m. to noon

Be part of the largest service event in Miami! Hands On Miami Day, presented by Carnival Cruise Lines, is the organization's annual fundraising day of community service. More than 4000 volunteers will help paint, plant trees, beautify schools, create murals and clean up neighborhoods around the county. Registering and selecting a project online is easy. Funds raised through registration fees and sponsorships support programming all year long. Volunteers receive breakfast, courtesy of Starbucks, a Hands On Miami t-shirt, and a post-project party at Finnegans on the River (401 S.W. Third Avenue). United Way Young Leaders' Volunteer Project

Saturday, November 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Help United Way's Young Leaders complete their project as part of Hands On Miami Day. This active group of young leaders are helping to renovate Westview Middle School. They will paint the school's mascot on the front of the school, as well as colorful murals along the hallways. The school's landscaping will be embellished with a beautiful butterfly garden, a stone/mulch path, shrubs lining the sideway and a small fence. Sleepless Night

Saturday, November 3 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Set your clocks now to fall back and culture forward because Sleepless Night will be in Miami Beach in the blink of an eye! From dance performances and sculpture gardens to live bands and street parades, the free, 13-hour innovative cultural affair will get underway at 6 p.m. and not stop till sunrise at 6 a.m. the next day. Sleepless Night is a collaboration of all the city's major cultural institutions, theaters, galleries, and arts organizations, along with hotels, shops, nightclubs, restaurants and individual artists and presenters. Events for children will be held during the earlier part of the night. Free public transportation will connect four major zones of activity - North Beach, Collins Park, Lincoln Road and Ocean Drive. Live performances will take place on the buses so that participants will not miss a moment of culture. 9th Annual Crystal Vision Gala

The Art & Culture Center of Hollywood hosts its ninth annual gala with Beatlemania Live! performing and the presentation of Crystal Awards to this year's honorees: Nicki E. Grossman, Silvia Flores, M.D., Hollywood Police Chief James Scarberry, David W. Singer, Esq., and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, with special recognition to retiring Commissioner Sal Oliveri. Baptist Hospital White Diamonds Ball

Step into the intrigue and glamour of a James Bond thriller when you attend this year's Baptist Hospital Ball, "White Diamonds," with entertainment by Gemini. Co-chaired by Dr. Edward and Maira Abraham and Maria Camila and German Leiva, the gala raises funds to help build the hospital's new Emergency Center now under construction. The Gold-Diggers, Inc., a theatrical company that performs in support of charities, is set to present a marvelous gala filled with entertainment for their annual fall fundraiser. Dinner, music, live auctions and prizes will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America and Food for Life Network. More than 60 women from Miami-Dade and Broward help raise money and bring awareness to these charities. Tickets are $75 per person; $1,000 for a VIP table of 10.

Beaux Arts Ball

Miami's oldest costume ball requests that you "Come As You Were" for this year's Beaux Arts Ball. Guests are encouraged to wear nostalgic costumes that conjure up past eras or lives. Volunteers Needed for JNF's Green Sunday!

Sunday, November 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to take part in Jewish National Fund's annual "Green Sunday" Phone-a-thon. JNF will be making calls to raise funds to build new communities in Israel, like their "Blueprint Negev Campaign" in the South and their Northern Renewal Campaign to restore forests destroyed by Hezbollah in 2006. A few hours of your time can help a lot. There will be food, raffles and prizes for volunteer callers, plus camaraderie and the satisfaction of helping. High school students who make calls will receive community service hours.

"Bebe" Rebozo Memorial Golf Classic

The Carmen Rebozo Foundation joins the Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade to host a golf outing and banquet to support programming and services for disadvantaged youth in our community. 3rd Annual IKF Latin American Art Auction 2007

Thursday, November 8 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Known as "the collector's auction," you'll find world class art offered in silent and live auctions. New this year is the Collector's Corner, a select group of donated works by South Florida collectors, who are contributing to IKF's efforts. This signature event for the International Kids Fund (IKF), a program of Jackson Memorial Foundation, is devoted to art, charity and fun. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres provided.
