GM for New Media Network NEEDED‏

We are conducting an executive search for a General Manager of a new media network. The network was launched in March 2008 and already it has over 65M viewers and expected to double by end of this year. The network targets the “18-24 year old, college student” market. Need someone to take over daily management and planned growth of this new media network. Candidates must have recently held a management position at a company in one of the following categories: 1) an alternate media company that generated revenues through ad sales 2) an “out-of-home” advertising company 3) a company that either installed or managed digital signage or in-store signage 4) a new media company or social networking company 5) a company that manages networks of out of home advertising systems. POSITION: General Manager. This is a management position. You will be part of the core management team that includes the CEO. Initially, this will also be an individual contributor position since you will only have a couple of people reporting to you at the start of your employment.

COMPANY: New media network. The network was launched in March 2008 and already it has over 65M viewers and expected to double by end of this year. The network targets the “18-24 year old, college student” market. Need someone to take over daily management and planned growth of this new media network.

LOCATION: The position is located in Roanoke, Virginia. Candidates must already live in the area or be willing to relocate. Working remotely is not an option.

COMPENSATION: This is a key hire. Board is willing and able to put together the right package for the right candidate. The compensation package will include: base salary, bonus, and stock options There will be an emphasis on incentives for outstanding performance. The Board wants to hire someone who is very motivated.

MANAGEMENT STYLE/CORPORATE CULTURE: This position reports to the CEO. He will only hire someone who is a team player and does not need to be micromanaged. Basically, he prefers to agree to a set of objectives making sure that the objectives are clearly outlined and understood by the individual, then let the individual execute the plan. But, he expects the individual to keep him informed of progress. Individual must be able to go to the CEO when in need of help. He will only hire someone that is very entrepreneurial and passionate with a burning hunger for success; someone with a vision. He wants people with new ideas and strong opinions, but able to move in a fast paced, ever-changing start up environment. Corporate culture is very team oriented and results focused. There is open communication and exchange of new ideas.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

-- Must have recently held a management position at a company in one of the following categories: 1) an alternate media company that generated revenues through ad sales 2) an “out-of-home” advertising company 3) a company that either installed or managed digital signage or in-store signage 4) a new media company or social networking company. 5) a company that manages networks of out of home advertising systems.

-- Must have experience selling to the “18-24 year old/college student” market, or another distinct target market.

-- Must be able to manage the design the content, advertising, contests, etc for the network that is appealing to the “18-24 year old/college student” market. Need someone that can measure the effectiveness of the programming.

-- Must have experience building social networks and/or loyalty programs.

-- Must be very good at building relationships and loyalty with clients. You will be required to travel around 30% to meet with clients in person. Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.

-- Must be very hands-on, and able to roll up your sleeves and do whatever it takes to build the business while building the team. Need someone that is very strategic and hungry. Someone who leaves their ego at the door. Need someone that knows how to work smart. Need someone experienced at creating AND executing a strategic business plan.
