Guiliano Marinetti Exhibition

May 30 - June 15

The unique sculptures of Giuliano (Julien) Marinetti will be on display at Opera Gallery in the Bal Harbour Shops. As a young man his own style emerged, and Marinetti devoted his work to combining strong and vibrant colors with sculptural shapes. His brightly painted and highly glazed signature dog sculptures express social and political statements or humorous interpretations of contemporary art forms such as Pop Art and Cubism. Visit Opera Gallery Mon-Fri from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sat 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sun noon to 6 p.m. Pictured: Doggy John, Bronze; H: 34 cm.

Disappearances, Shadows and Illusions

June 6 – September 21

Special installations by Miami artists, including Leyden Rodriquez-Casanova, Matt Schreiber and Tom Scicluna, together with selections from local collectors and MAM's permanent collection, will make up Disappearances, Shadows, and Illusions in MAM's Upper Level Gallery. Contrary to the usual expectations that artworks must embody enduring values and stand the test of time, the works in this exhibition use tricks of light, perspective, erasure, and other means to evoke a sense of impermanence and uncertainty. The exhibition will be on view at Miami Art Museum through September 21 and can be viewed Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
