Art Basel, Fountain Miami 2008--Your Weekly Miami.Myopenbar.com Listings‏

Fountain Miami 2008
Wednesday, December 3rd
Dos Equis Beer, no cover, $5 suggested donation on the weekend / 11am–7pm

The high-style, high-energy, jet-setting symposium of contemporary visual expression known as Art Basel has once again descended upon Miami. To those of you not in the industry, the good news is that rapid expansion of this fair since its recent inception provides plenty of "unofficial" opportunities. To those hooked up in the scene, my recommendation is: wear flats – alcohol mitigates only so many hours of standing (although granted, I'm a failure as a woman).

Our top "unofficial" pick: Fountain Miami's guerrilla-style shop in an industrial warehouse, an alternative exhibition known for presenting cutting-edge and independent galleries. No booths. No selection juries. No corporate bullshit. Just a massive 6,000 square-foot complex adjacent to all the major Wynwood fairs, filled with painting, sculpture, performance and new media. Hell, even my awesome gay roommate is showing here.

Fountain Miami 2008 participating galleries include:

Glowlab - New York
Leo Kesting - New York
Open Ground - Brooklyn
Radau - Miami
Jonathan Shorr Gallery - New York
Yum Yum Factory - Brooklyn
Dada Art Gallery - Philadelphia
Briceno Gallery - Miami

Fountain Miami
2505 North Miami Avenue at 25th Street, Wynwood, Miami, (917) 650-3760 ALSO CHECK US OUT IN:

LOS ANGELES
SAN FRANCISCO
CHICAGO
HONOLULU

Additional open bars are posted to the website throughout the week, and details of events listed in the email are occasionally revised, so for the up-to-the-minute info, it's advised to check the site.
As for the accuracy of deals on the list — hey, we try. If you find something bogus, tell us and we'll ban that promoter's events forever. That's right — forever.
