The Alchemist Skin and Body Care Center
TIP OF THE MONTH:
YOUR SKIN LOVES CARROTS!!!!
The crunchy snack and Bugs Bunny prop is loaded with vitamin A -- a good-for-your-eyes antioxidant that appears to be great for skin, too. It helps balance the pH of the skin's surface, making it slightly acidic. That's good news, because slightly acidic skin fends off bacterial invaders. Here are more skin-boosting nutrients.
In addition to getting enough vitamin A in your diet, keep an eye on how much fat you eat. A recent study suggests that eating too much fat will suck moisture from your skin, which means fine lines and wrinkles have no place to hide.
Should you drink more water? It can't hurt. Water provides your skin with more moisture, and it helps balance pH.(eight-glasses-of-water-a-day)

Flamenco is a Spanish musical genre with strong, rhythmic undertones. LIFE STUDIES FORUM: Pranic Healing
Understand your Aura and Chakras
with Kane Tuma
Friday, July 18th: 7-8:30 PM
- What are the chakras and the aura?
- What are the individual characteristics of each of the major chakras and how does each relate to you at the emotional, psychological and physical levels?
- How do my chakras and energy bodies relate to physical, emotional and psychological ailments and how/why does Pranic Healing, as well as other healing modalities, work?
Pranic Healing is a highly developed and tested system of energy healing that utilizes prana (Sanskrit word that means "life-force") to balance, harmonize and transform the body's energy processes. This invisible bio-energy or vital energy keeps the physical body alive and maintains a state of good health and optimal emotional and mental balance. Pranic Healing's effectiveness relies on this intimate connection between these two bodies and is based on the fundamental principle that the body is a "self-repairing" entity that possesses the innate ability to heal itself.
In this seminar you will learn the Twin Hearts Meditation with Pranic self-healing meditation (activates the heart and crown chakras), Pranic self-healing techniques such as energetic self-sweeping (i.e. getting read of headaches and stress energy), basic energy scanning, basic pranic breathing and basic pranic psychic self-defense and learn about the properties of crystals and how you can use them effectively in your daily life.
HEALER'S BIO
Kane Tuma is a Pranic Crystal Healer who has studied under internationally known Master Stephen Co, the senior disciple of late Grand Master Choa Kok Sui, founder of the Pranic Healing System. OBSERVE. CONNECT .TRANSFORM
TWO WEEK ADJUSTMENT INTENSIVE
with Kino MacGregor & Tim Feldmann
November 30-December 12
The assists you remember are the ones that speak to you precisely where you are. There is no cookie cutter method that applies universally to all people in all situations. Adjusting people in yoga postures is not about utilizing one method on all bodies. Being with people in the context of yoga is like being with people during their evolutionary process. It changes and evolves. Listening is the first step in any relationship. In this workshop, you learn how to stop and listen to your students’ bodies and, in the simplest way, connect deeply with the human being in front of you. You will be able to share what you sense and see in a way that has one aim - a positive and human transformation of the students' practice and general health.
Tim & Kino offer to share the foundation of their approach to the body and mind. With a stringent focus on how to tune into the individual practitioner's body and process, you will learn basic functional anatomy for the moving body through guided hands on explorations of the architectural structure of your body. We guide you towards an enhanced sense of kinesthetic listening and into your physical and verbal ability to communicate. You will learn tools to read the body and its energy pathways and how to read inefficient movement patterns. You will learn the essential assists for most asanas and different body types and levels, as well as how to work with different types of practice minds.
Week One covers the adjustments used in Ashtanga Yoga's Primary Series and is open to all.
Week Two covers the adjustments used in Ashtanga Yoga's Second Series and at least two years of regular Ashtanga Yoga practice recommended. Admission to Week Two without prior enrollment in Week One available only upon special evaluation of daily Second Series Ashtanga Yoga practice and teaching experience.

The first step to a healthy learning process and yoga practice is a mutual respect between the teacher and the student. As a teacher you must place yourself in front of your students while preventing injury for yourself or your students. In this workshop you will learn how to maintain your energy and make your students relax into your teaching. You will learn how to use touch as a physical and inituitive means of communication rather than verbal instruction. Teaching in this way nurtures the everyone's sense of harmony in the yoga space.
Sunday: 6-10 AM Guided Full Vinyasa-$45
The most traditional way to practice Ashtanga Yoga is with a complete vinyasa in between each posture. This method is rarely used now and Lino Miele is one of the only senior teachers who is able to share this original practice style with us. It turns the Primary Series into a very intense practice--Don't miss it!

FEE:$1200 for both weeks, $700 for one week.
Includes Morning Mysore Practice with Kino & Tim, Pranayama Sessions, Daily Afternoon Adjustments Workshops, Anatomy Training, Communication Techniques for Student Teacher Relations, and Guided Meditation Techniques.

Child Soldiers -- Out of the Jungle & Into the Classroom
How could a boy be taken by FARC guerrilla soldiers when he was 12-years old, endure 100-mile marches with an AK-47 placed into his hands, be forced to sleep on the jungle floor night after night, year after year -- and still find the courage to escape to freedom? And even if he did, could he find the will to lift himself up & recover from the long nightmare? I initially had my own doubts.
But those doubts have dissolved with time. Two weeks ago we took 25 child soldiers who recently escaped from the FARC -- Colombia's notoriously violent rebel group -- on a retreat to support their emotional, psychological and spiritual rehabilitation. It's a tremendous challenge, no doubt, so when the hardened face of a child changes and we see him smile or even laugh for the first time since leaving the jungle, we always know his transformation has begun.
To see pictures* of the retreat, go to:
http://www.developingmindsfoundation.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=78&Itemid=115
Developing Minds Foundation is sponsoring a library, literacy workshop and computer lab to educate these kids and prepare them for their reintegration into civil society. So I would like to ask you to be part of this important project by taking two minutes to make a modest $50 contribution now.
Your donation to help educate these former child soldiers will be a strike for human resilience, supporting the notion that no one is ever lost forever, and that everyone has the possibility to rise above their past, no matter how difficult. To make your contribution so they can prevail over their lost childhood and confront the future with greater confidence, click on Donations at: www.developingmindsfoundation.org
With your help we can ensure they receive the support they need and deserve. As children they spent an average of 3 to 4 years having no contact with their mothers or any other family member, fending off hunger and disease, and ultimately surviving the brutality of armed conflict. But now they have the chance to engage the world in a positive way and continue with their studies so as to enter into a normal life.
For additional information, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you for your support.

Best,
Philippe Houdard
