Caribbean "Team" Up Night

Wednesday, August 29, 6 to 10 p.m.

Join Equinox Fitness Club and Sandals Resorts for an evening of fitness, food, fun and frolic to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. Your $15 donation includes refreshments, a fitness class and the use of the club's state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Hot, Hot, Hot Summer Luncheon & Boutique

Thursday, August 30, 10:30 a.m.

Katherine Fernandez Rundle, the first female Hispanic state attorney in Florida, will be honored as Woman of the Year by the Latin Auxiliary of Douglas Gardens at The Miami Jewish Home & Hospital during the group's annual "Hot, Hot, Hot" Summer Luncheon & Boutique. Rundle was appointed Miami's state attorney in 1993 and re-elected four times. The boutique will offer a vast collection of fashion and home accessories. Lunch begins at noon, and kosher dietary laws are observed. All proceeds from the event fund the salaries and equipment for the Music Therapy Program at Douglas Gardens. In conjunction with the University of Miami music therapy program, this program has become an effective tool in reaching patients with dementia, Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease. The minimum donation is $45 per person and valet parking is available.

Showcase of Artworks from the Ann Storck Center

Thursday, August 30, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Art is helping adults with severe and multiple developmental disabilities at the Ann Storck Center discover their unique abilities and gain independence in everyday tasks. See this exhibition of their exceptional artworks, all of which will be available for sale, and enjoy the hospitality of Grumpy Dick's. A portion of the proceeds from the entire evening at the restaurant will go to the Center.

South Beach Fights Poverty with Fashion

Style and Image Network and The United Nations Association of the Greater Miami Area's Young Professionals for International Cooperation invite you to an ethical fashion event to raise awareness about global poverty. The Miami Home Design & Remodeling Show

August 31 – September 4

South Florida's largest home-products event will bring an international showcase of home improvement and design to Miami Beach over the Labor Day weekend. The event fills 230,000 square feet with over 1,200 displays of interior design, furniture and accessories and a variety of home improvement ideas for indoors and out. Meet this year's special guest Wanda Colon, designer on HGTV's "24 Hour Design." Informative seminars will be presented throughout the weekend by interior design and home improvement experts with thousands of ideas of interior updates, outdoor beautification projects and home renovations featured.
