We are conducting an executive search for a CMO/SVP of Marketing for an online subscription-based service targeting consumers with a passion for music. The founder of this company has already launched 3 companies successfully. He is very well connected in the music industry. He launched this company a little over a year ago. Revenues are already close to $1M. He needs someone who is an internet marketing guru to build subscriptions revenues to over $10M. Candidates must currently (or within the last 12 months) hold a leadership position at an online, subscription-based, consumer-focused internet company responsible for revenue generation, public relations, lead generation, media buying, email marketing, corporate website management and/or general guerilla marketing. The company is located in a small, up-and-coming New England city. (You can buy a beautiful 3500 square foot house for under $400k. Similar homes in nearby areas sell for over $1.2M. From this area, you can drive to Boston or NYC within 2-3 hours.) Company is in final stages of negotiating term sheets from significant investors for its Series B. COMPENSATION: Compensation will include an annual base salary with a variable bonus depending upon revenue generation. Plus, benefits package and a strong equity play. CEO wants someone who is very confident and motivated to generate revenues. There will be no cap on the variable bonus. There is a huge opportunity to make a lot of money here, when you hit your numbers. MANAGEMENT STYLE/CORPORATE CULTURE: Position reports to the Founder and CEO. He prefers to have people run with full responsibility of their P&Ls. He will help set goals and priorities, then give you room to succeed. Need someone that can think independently, and come to him when necessary. Need someone who is self-disciplined and can hit the ground running. Candidates need to be highly effective at managing their own time and priorities. Corporate culture is that of a "young, hungry startup." There is a strong focus on performance and oriented towards achieving results rapidly. Must have a "can do" attitude. Figure out how to get things done quickly and successfully. Must be able to work independently and on a team. Must be a good team player. There is very little structure right now, need someone that can go with the flow and not get upset over the little things. Really needsomeone that can focus on execution and take the initiative to get things done. Need someone who thrives under tough timeline pressure and the need to show pragmatic, measurable results. He wants someone who knows how to work effectively as part of a management team by building respect and trust. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: -- Must currently (or within the last 12 months) hold a leadership position at an online, subscription-based, consumer-focused internet company responsible for revenue generation, public relations, lead generation, media buying, email marketing, corporate website management and/or general guerilla marketing. -- Must enjoy the entrepreneurial atmosphere of a small company, but have been through the experience of scaling up an enterprise to significant organization size and revenues. Experience working in a dynamic (i.e. "startup") environment is required as well as a successful track record building a subscription-based, consumer focused service from early adoption through market share leadership. -- Must have the capacity to help drive the growth of the organization as it scales revenues from approximately $1M to over $10M and beyond over the next two years. -- Must know search engine marketing cold. Must be able to build an analytic driven marketing campaign. Prefer someone with a background in alternative marketing like event marketing and buzz marketing. Experienced at increasing website traffic and membership. Experienced at generating interest and creating a pull v. pushing people to the website. -- Must have someone with successful history launching web and affiliate marketing programs for paid media. -- Must have someone with experience increasing conversion from trial users to loyal users. -- Must have someone with experience reducing customer turnover. -- Prefer someone with experience developing strategic marketing partnerships and promotional campaigns bringing together multiple big-name brands. -- CEO really wants someone who is an internet marketing guru with a passion for music and/or education.
