Location: Miami, FL or Miami Springs, FL
Salary Range: 100,000 - 140,000

Intellectual Property Attorney

If you are an experienced IP attorney with a pharmaceutical background, this is an outstanding opportunity for you!

We are an established pharmaceutical company experiencing tremendous growth and looking for an additional IP attorney with a pharmaceutical background.

What you will be doing:

- Assist IP Counsel with the procurement and maintenance of corporate patent portfolio
- Obtaining invention disclosures, drafting and prosecuting patent applications
- Conducting prior art/freedom to operate studies relevant to corporate product lines and in-licensing
- Managing worldwide IP portfolio
- Review invention disclosure forms
- Conduct in-depth reviews of the relevant scientific and patent literature to determine patentability, infringement and freedom to operate.
- Assist in review of new products for possible patent opportunities
- Analyzing competitor’s IP
- Draft and prosecute patent applications
- Correspond with the USPTO to secure allowance of US patents
- Work with foreign associates and outside law firms on various matters relating to patent procurement and enforcement
- Track new developments in IP law
- Participate in managing the company's patent portfolio by assisting with all intellectual property, due diligence, licensing and litigation issues
- Assist in various trademark matters including trademark searches and trademark prosecution
- Support for general legal matters involving IP

What you need:

- Juris Doctorate required and admission to a state bar, preferably Florida
- Admission to the Patent Bar required.
- Minimum 5 years prosecuting US patents in corporate or law firm setting, preferably in pharmaceutical area.
- Bachelor's in Chemistry or related science
- MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access) and Microsoft Outlook
- Patent litigation, due diligence and licensing are a plus
- Ability to work independently as well as with non-lawyers and outside patent counsels
- Working knowledge of domestic and international intellectual property law to include patents, trademarks, copyrights, licensing, and contracts
