Mime Power: A Step Beyond Words
Wednesday
August 8 at 7:30 P.M.
Mime is considered to be one of the most unique forms of performance art. It is considered by many to be one of the earliest methods of self-expression, dating back to the gestures that early man would use before the ability to communicate orally. The art of mime may have been most popular during the silent film era, when actors like Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin created plots and conflicts without the luxury of sound. On this night, Darby Hayes will take you on a magical journey into the power of symbolic language, sprinkled with anecdotes from her trainings with Marcel Marceau and excerpts from her repertoire. Arrive early and enjoy complimentary wine and cheese. Part of Culture in the City series.
