Lunch Counter Culture
The Boutique Kitchen Opens
You’ve avoided mamma’s boys since you discovered your ex’s mom bought his condoms. (Lubricated. Ew.)
But it’s not always a sticky situation. Mom and son team Evelyne and chef Jean Sebastien make it work at their new lunch counter, The Boutique Kitchen.
The Upper East Side resto focuses on gourmet bistro fare: salads (Asian, Greek, Tex-Mex), sandwiches (chicken and sun-dried tomato, BBQ pulled pork), and classics (meatloaf, churrasco steak, spaghetti). Rotating specials include Caribbean-style paella (black rice, chorizo, shrimp, calamari, mussels) and coconut curry chicken.
Though the spot is geared toward takeout and catering, its homey Southwestern decor, cheery yellow walls, and open kitchen invite you to order your beer “to stay.”
Don’t miss Evelyne’s peach cobbler.
She’s a real sugar mama.
The Boutique Kitchen, 6815 Biscayne Boulevard (305-756-0089).
