January's Big Give - Take Stock in Children

This month’s Big Give is Take Stock in Children. Take Stock in Children is a school-based, Florida-wide comprehensive mentoring and scholarship program whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty and academic failure for low-income, at-risk children. It is an incredible program that really helps kid get to college. I am a board member and we have a budget shortfall for this year that we absolutely have to make. I am hoping that you guys will give enough money to cover at least 1 scholarship. Please help. You can donate at www.takestockinchildren.org or send it to me at 2815 Evans St. Hollywood, FL 33020. Make checks payable to Take Stock in Children.

Since its inception in 1995, Take Stock in Children has:

- Helped almost 4,000 students graduate from high school with $78 million in college scholarships

- Graduated 92% of its students (vs. Florida average of 59%)

- Logged over 715,000 volunteer hours provided by more than 11,000 volunteers
- Received national recognition by being awarded the Excellence in Mentoring Award for Program Leadership from MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership.

For more information, go to www.takestockinchildren.org. If you're interested in becoming a mentor, please let me know.

Your donation will go to the Miami-Dade program, which serves 450 students and has the longest waiting list in the state. Your tax-deductible contribution will support the scholarship programs, mentor recruitment initiatives, and operations that coordinate all Take Stock's activities in Miami-Dade County.
