Company: LEÓN, MAYER & Co. (LM) is a private equity and financial advisory firm based in Miami and New York. Our private equity practice is divided into real estate and hospitality acquisitions and corporate acquisitions. Our financial advisory practice advises select clients on financing and merger and acquisition transactions.
LM’s real estate and hospitality practice focuses primarily on the acquisition, financing, redevelopment and management of existing hospitality and residential properties in select metropolitan markets in the U.S., Latin America and the Caribbean. Our corporate acquisitions practice focuses on the acquisitions of small-cap companies throughout the U.S. that present value-added and turnaround opportunities. We focus primarily on transactions with total values of $20 million to $100 million.
LM was co-founded by Andro Nodarse-León and Benjamin G. Mayer in August 2005.
Position Overview: The Associate will be a key member of LEÓN, MAYER & Co. and will play a central role in the formation and investment of LM’s real estate and hospitality fund (LM Fund I). The Associate will also be involved in portfolio and asset management activities helping to track and improve the operating performance of LM’s investments. LM’s structure will allow the Associate to benefit from ongoing close interaction with the firm’s founders and will provide the Associate with the opportunity to also be involved in the advisory and corporate acquisition transactions that the firm undertakes.
The Associate position will report to the firm’s Managing Partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Support LM’s fundraising and investor relation activities
• Support LM’s diligence and financial underwriting of potential real estate and hospitality acquisitions:
− Operating due diligence
− Competitive and market analysis
− Financial modeling
− Structuring
− Valuation
• Support the upfront structuring and ongoing interaction with the firm’s lenders and joint-venture institutional equity partners

• Work with LM’s legal, accounting and industry advisors to structure and close transactions
• Participate in the formulation and implementation of asset redevelopment and operating initiatives
• Support and assist in the activities of LM’s existing portfolio investments
• Support client assignments for LM’s financial advisory practice
Requirements for Education and Experience:
• Undergraduate degree. Business degree a plus
• Two to four years of investment banking experience and / or real estate / hotel acquisitions experience at top-tier firm(s)
• Strong understanding of the determinants of value in real estate and hospitality investments
• Experience in capital raising activities for LP funds is a plus
• Highly proficient with Excel and PowerPoint

• Very strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent quantitative abilities
• Very strong financial analysis, modeling and underwriting skills
• Highly detail oriented
• Responsible, proactive, trustworthy and ambitious individual who enjoys taking ownership of projects and being accountable for their results
• Able to develop and execute initiatives through analytical and structured decision-making and implementation
• High level of professionalism and ability to work independently
• Comfort working with senior business executives
