Swiss Bliss
Badrutt’s Place Opens
You were going to jaunt off to the Alps for the weekend, but you couldn’t get a flight.
Because you’re broke.
No need to hop the pond. The real jet set will be converging at Badrutt’s Place, celebrating its grand opening today. It’s the first U.S. location of the Swiss palace, where royals have lazed since 1896.
The interior was designed by Alison Antrobus (of Philippe Starck); local craftsmen made the furniture by hand. The decor is first class: a raised V.I.P. lounge; colored lights adorning rounded, canvas walls; and creamy leather chairs. The crystal clear sound system is one of the country’s best.
The menu’s a direct flight to Europe: octopus carpaccio, terrine de foie gras, duck breast with orange sauce, striped seabass in light broth.
And for dessert, zabaglione or Napoleon with berries.
Now that’s the ticket.
Badrutt’s Place, 1250 South Miami Avenue (305-415-0070 or badrutts-place.com).
