Sake Room- new restaurant

Sake to Me
Sake Room Opens

Rompers. Boards. The color green. Many a random thing has claimed a room.

Now, out of the hushed bamboo quarters of the sushi bar, sake steps up to the plate.

Former Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove concierge Mario Cicilia gives the nuanced wine its due with Sake Room. The bevvie of honor is accompanied by classics like tuna tartare; sea bass with ginger, scallions, oyster sauce; and the signature Sake Room Roll (seafood salad, shrimp tempura, avocado). Sake not your thing? There’s also plum wine, champagne, and Japanese beer.

The decor is reminiscent of a monk’s retreat (if monks were saucy): Cherry red walls, groovy paper lamps, and imported Asian artifacts set the mood, along with local DJ LeMoch, who keeps the sound chill — or warm: sake goes both ways.

And now it has a room of its own.

Sake Room, 1800 Biscayne Boulevard (305-755-0122).
