Open Barre Dance Series

Miami City Ballet continues its series of behind-the-scenes looks at the Company and its dancers with Urban Jazz featuring Lounge 2200. You'll also see new works choreographed by Rafi Maldonado, head of MCB School's Jazz department, Broadway star Richard Amaro, and MCB's team of Jazz teachers. MCB dancers and advanced school students will trade their ballet slippers for high heels and jazz shoes and let down their hair to perform Lounge 2200, a hot contemporary jazz piece set to the soulful music of the 50's and 60's. Begin at the open bar reception (sponsored by Bacardi and AeroBar) in MCB's lobby a half hour before the performance. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. (open bar at 6:30); and a Saturday matinee at 2:30 (open bar at 2). Individual tickets are $29 and available online.
