Celebrating the big 2-0 this year is John Martin's with the return of its nineteenth annual street festival. Clearly, this pub is worth a return visit, as Liz T recalls: "I've been twice; both times I got sloshed sitting at the bar with a friendly bartender and a stranger talking my ear off!" The newest kid on the St. Patrick's Day Block(party) is the Irish Times, known for its vast collection of whiskey and happy-hour prices so good you won't need that pot o' gold. No wonder Luis O waxes poetic: "It's one of those places of idyllic feel, where moods are relaxed and people are real." Surely, you'll find Ana Cristina P at the Irish Tavern & Grill, and who can blame her? She divulged on Talk: "They serve more green beer than you can ever imagine!"
Sure, Ireland is known for its world-class brew, but its food rivals any on the comfort level. Melissa S cozies up to the "big enough for two" sheperd's pie at Clarke's Irish pub and notes, "unlike other fake Irish pubs on the beach, you can get Magners and Guinness from a waitress with an accent." Waxy O'Connor's is Katherine M's choice to "hunker down and enjoy a frothy pint, strong drinks and yummy food," or cross over the county line where The Field awaits: "Whether it's the bangers and mash that pop with a burst of flavor, the steamy, crispy fish and chips with a splash of malt vinegar, or an ice cold Smithwicks at the biggest St Paddy's Day blowout in town," Randy L has yet to be let down.
Eddy D is always glad he came to Irish sports bar Mike's at Venetia, as he likens it to "Miami's own Cheers in the sky... it really is! Don't expect anybody to know your name though." But in the true spirit of Erin go bragh, Gina H has been known to stumble out of Kelly's Pub "maybe three sheets to the wind singing, Hail Hail the Celts are Here." And may you be in heaven a full half hour before the devil knows your dead!
