Yelpin' Recession Friendly Restaurants
Sure, the economy is in shambles, but any good yelper knows there's a silver lining to every cloud. Frugal is the new chic, and plenty of local restaurants are helping you stretch those Washingtons by offering recession-friendly options that will still fill your belly right. Hit "print" on this Weekly, 'cause you'll wanna stick this money saver on the fridge for safe keeping!

Brickell, traditionally known for its moneyed yuppie crowd, has some of the best deals in town. Valentina D has a soft spot for the River Oyster Bar and its half-price oyster happy hour: "I loved the opportunity to snarf down a large sampler platter of exquisite bi-valves who gave up their simple yet poignant lives for my momentary enjoyment." On Thursdays, you can manga on pasta at Perricone's for a mere ten spot, but Chelsea O reminds us that the "great atmosphere, outside dining in a barn-like structure, with well-lit trees, twinkle lighting and soft jazz harp in the background" don't cost a thing! Joshua M has his true Blú favorite: "On weekdays from 5-7pm you get an excellent deal in which the price is based off the time of day. If you buy at 5pm the meal is five dollars, if you order at 6pm the meal is six dollars." Yep, timing is everything!

Beat-the-clock specials are also available at Lincoln Road sister eateries Spris and Tiramesu. The former "has the basics down to a science," if you ask Ginger H, while the latter keeps Kim H coming back for their "hearty Italian fare." On Thursdays, look for Eve C sampling the vino e antipasti at Fratelli Lyon's Aperitivo in Milano: "It was all delicious." And then there's Kent K, whose wallet-friendly choice for a more rustic approach to Italian is Café Prima Pasta: "Typically very busy with locals, there is a reason why this place is always popping: the food." Well here's one very yelpy tip: The entire menu is half off if you show up for the 5 or 5:30pm seatings during the week!

Looking for some meatier dining specials? Peep the perks at Bourbon Steak, where Maria T knows "it's chichi von fancy, but sometimes, that's just what you need." With a new Raise Your Spirits happy hour, gourmet Bourbon Bar burger menu and their weekly Bourbon and Blues series, all of a sudden even Michael Mina seems (somewhat) affordable!
