Even before our first meeting, we rebelled from the global LikeMinded network (they wanted us to meet at 8 am!) and formed our own group: MiamiMinded. We may not think alike, but we're all thinking about Miami.
Our first meeting was excellent as 15 people came representing the diversity that is Miami: Belizeans, South Africans, Cubans, Haitians, and Americans - both native Miamian and transplants -- chatted in groups large and small on topics ranging from Belize's military might at sea (watch out, Guatemala!) to the stand up comedy potential of letters written to one member by his Southern grandmother, to growing up in Cuba after a childhood in South Africa. The last of the group lingered until 9:30 pm. We hope to see you there next time.
