The Women of Valor Luncheon

Mercedes-Benz Corporate Run Miami

Las Olas Wine & Food Festival

Thursday, May 1 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

The most popular street in downtown Fort Lauderdale, known for its fabulous restaurants, trendy shops and hotels, is the locale for the popular Las Olas Wine and Food Festival. Live music provides the background for festival guests to enjoy signature culinary creations from more than 60 of South Florida's best dining destinations accompanied by 30+ wine booths on the boulevard, courtesy of Premier Beverage. Honorary Chair Marc Buoniconti will welcome VIP's to the exclusive Bonterra Vineyards VIP reception (a sell out every year) from 5:30 p.m. before the main event gets underway at 7. Located at 8th Avenue, the VIP Lounge is open during the entire festival for VIP ticket holders. Also on street you'll find Crown Wine & Spirits offering the opportunity to purchase the wines you taste and Bombay Sapphire Music & Mixology Lounge - the drinks are mixed according to the music. Tickets to the main event are $75; VIP tickets are $200 and include special VIP gifts. Proceeds from the Festival benefit the American Lung Association and local asthma programs, education, patients and research at the Asthma Clinical Research Center at UM.

Wine Tasting & Silent Auction

Friday, May 2 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Join Educate Tomorrow for an evening of fine wines, delicious hors d'oeuvres, socializing, and browsing an eclectic array of items, including jewelry, artworks, vintage wines, sporting goods and more, offered in the evening's silent auction. The tasting, hosted by Gibraltar Bank & Trust, will feature an extraordinary selection of wines from across the globe. This event will help provide one-on-one mentors for foster care children who are turning 18 and "aging out" of the system.

Gift of Communication Society Celebration

Friday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m.

The Hearing and Speech Center of Florida welcomes Justin Osmond as this year's honored guest at the Center's biggest annual fundraiser. Justin, the nephew of Donny and Marie Osmond, is hearing impaired, but thanks to modern technology, Justin can listen with the help of a hearing aid. The goal for this year's event is to raise $250,000 that will provide critical services to the hearing and speech impaired across Miami-Dade County. The celebration event includes dinner, a silent auction hosted by Northern Trust, and tram tours of Fairchild and its exciting exhibition of three great artists - Botero, Chihuly and Lichtenstein - in the gardens. Tickets are $150.

"Art of Found Objects" Annual Charity Auction

6th Annual Tropical Nights

The goal of this festive celebration is to raise awareness and funds for autism, bring together guests for fine food, drink, music and dancing, and to acknowledge the tireless efforts of people important to UM-NSU CARD. Special honorees at this year's Tropical Nights: former Florida governor and US Senator, the Honorable Bob Graham for his dedication to improving the quality of life for all Floridians; and Jean and Robert Schomber, ardent supporters and largely responsible for the development of the Florida CARD program at UM. Proceeds from this event will continue CARD's free programs, services and research initiatives.

2008 YMCA Casino Night

Saturday, May 3 at 8 p.m.

Bimbo Coles and Jim and Samantha Dorsy are co-chairs of this annual event to benefit the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, providing scholarships for daycare, after-school care, sports and summer programs. Guests join an elite group of celebrities for a night of fun, fortune and big states at the poker tables or playing Roulette, Craps and Black Jack. Tickets are $125 per person or $250 for a seat in the celebrity poker tournament.

4th Annual JunTos Charity Fundraiser

Saturday, May 3 at 8 p.m.

More than 700 young professionals are expected to attend this annual fundraiser presented by GM to raise awareness and funds for cancer and heart disease. The event features an open bar provided by Southern Wine & Spirits, food by Jungle Island, a silent auction with vacation packages and artwork from renowned artists, and a musical performance by La Mulata Del Sabor. Tickets are $50 in advance or $60 at the door. The JunTos Foundation was established in 2004 in memory of two inspirational young men, Juanchi de la Rua and Toti Mendez, by their friends and family.

3rd Annual Broward/Palm Beach Golf Classic

Monday, May 5 at noon

Florida golf enthusiasts will celebrate "Cinco de Mayo" at the Transplant Foundation's annual golf classic. Exuberant golfers will kick off the summer season and help raise funds to provide services for transplant recipients and increase organ donation through education and research. On-site registration is set for noon with tee off at 1:00 pm. Player fees ($1,500/foursome) include gift bag with polo shirt, lunch, an afternoon of golf, a hole-in-one prize by BMW, cocktail reception with live and silent auctions, dinner and awards for best (and worst). County Commissioner Ilene Lieberman will be honored at the dinner for her outstanding civic efforts to further the Foundation's mission. Sponsorships also available.
