Jennifer Nardozzi, Psy.D.. presents:
Awakening the Silent Soul: Treating Eating Disorders from the Inside Out

The field of eating disorders is a relatively new field of psychology study and research. Over the course of the last several years, several paradigms and ways to conceptualize eating disorders have been introduced, including the use of spirituality as a means to treat eating disorders. There appears to be a high correlation between spirituality and better health outcomes in a variety of medical and mental health problems (Koenig, McCullough, and Larson, 2001). Research and literature appears to support incorporating spirituality into the treatment process as an effective means of aiding in the healing process. This presentation will help practitioners begin to conceptualize eating disorders as a “hunger of the soul”. Both didactic information and also experiential exercises will be incorporated throughout the workshop to provide ideas and new ways of treating eating disorders.

This professional training will teach the following 3 Behavioral Objectives:
- Participants will be able to conceptualize eating disorders from a spiritual paradigm
- Participants will learn 3 new coping skills for their clients from a spiritual perspective
- Participants will learn about research that supports and validates utilizing spirituality in the treatment of eating disorders
