Hollywood, FL -- April 10, 2008 - Latin music's biggest stars glittered this evening at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, where this year's Billboard Latin Music Awards finalists, the thrill of the performances, and the excitement preceding each award delighted television viewers from coast to coast and around the world. Top honors at the world's most important and prestigious Latin music event went to Juan Luis Guerra who received three Billboard Latin Music Awards. This mega event, produced and broadcast live on Telemundo and hosted by Aylin Mujica and Alan Tacher, celebrated its 10th anniversary on the network.

The event was filled with memorable moments, beginning with a remarkable opening number by Olga Tañon, Noel from Sin Bandera, Yuridia, Victor Manuelle and Diana Reyes, who joined Ricardo Montaner to interpret "Tu Piano y mi Guitarra" (Your piano and my guitar), paying tribute to the art of music. They were accompanied by a majestic orchestra made up of 30 musicians, conducted by Angel "Cucco" Peña, marking the first time that an orchestra of this magnitude performs live during a Latin music awards show of this kind.

The show also featured the rich sound of regional Mexican music, with performances by Conjunto Primavera, honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award, La Arrolladora Banda El Limon, and Alacranes Musical. In addition, internationally renowned Marco Antonio Solis touched the audience with a special number accompanied by his band, which included 18 string instruments. In another evocative performance, Lucero, known as "La Novia de America" and dressed in authentic Mexican "charro" attire, paid homage to the great Jose Alfredo Jimenez.

Other stars that set the stage on fire with their performances included the great Alejandro Fernandez, who interpreted a musical medley featuring three of his hits. A.B. Quintanilla III Presenta Kumbia All Starz, performed live from Universal City Walk in Los Angeles during the innovative remote broadcast hosted by Penelope Menchaca, marking the first time an awards ceremony of this type airs from both east and west coasts.

International superstar Juan Luis Guerra y 440 got everyone on their feet with "Como Yo," accompanied by a choreography featuring 12 dancers. He received the Producer of the Year award and, along with his band 440, won Hot Latin Songs, Artist of the Year and Tropical Album of the Year, Duo or Group for "La Llave de mi Corazon."

In addition, viewers also enjoyed when the reggaeton duo Alexis y Fido joined the popular Mexican group Camila in a never-before-seen performance. Also, Wisin y Yandel stole fans' hearts with "Ahora Es." A special segment dedicated to new artists brought Kany Garcia, Belanova and Fanny Lu to the stage. The Dominican "bachata" group Aventura also delighted the audience with a medley of their greatest hits. As if that weren't enough, Colombian superstar Juanes interpreted his most recent release "Gotas de Agua Dulce."

Latin pop star Enrique Iglesias took the stage to give a distinguished performance. Later, in one of the most exciting moments of the evening, Telemundo and Billboard presented him with a special award for making history by becoming the only Latin artist to have topped the Billboard Hot Latin Songs list 18 times.

Finally, Puerto Rican singer Chayanne closed the evening with a spectacular performance of "Lola." The evening culminated with the show's hosts, Aylin Mujica and Alan Tacher, from outside the theater with a magnificent fireworks display and cheers from the crowd.

Billboard's special recognitions went to iconic Norteño band Conjunto Primavera, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award for its prolific 30-year musical career; and Colombian pop superstar Juanes, who was honored with the Spirit of Hope Award for his commitment and humanitarian work through his foundation "Mi Sangre" (My Blood). In a special moment, Juanes was given the award by Juan Luis Guerra and was surprised by children from his foundation, as well as friends from his childhood, who, through a live broadcast directly from Colombia, congratulated him and shared words of praise. Juanes also took home the Latin Pop Album of the Year, Male for "La Vida... es un Ratico."

Artists who received two Latin Billboard Awards included: bachata band Aventura, for Hot Latin Song of the Year and Tropical Airplay Song of the Year, Duo or Group, both for the song "Mi Corazoncito;" reggaeton's big boss Daddy Yankee was recognized for Reggaeton Album for the Year and Latin Album of the Year, both for "El Cartel: The Big Boss;" reggaeton group R.K.M. y Ken-Y, honored with Reggaeton Song of the Year for "Igual que Ayer," and Latin Ringtone of the Year for "Me Matas;" and Latin superstar Gloria Estefan garnered awards in Tropical Album of the Year, Female for "90 Millas" and Tropical Airplay Song of the Year, Female for "No Llores."

Other artists honored with two awards were pop/rock trio Camila, for Latin Pop Album of the Year, Duo or Group for "Todo Cambio" and Latin Pop Airplay Song of the Year, Duo or Group for "Todo Cambio;" up-and-coming singer/songwriter Kany Garcia for Latin Pop Album of the Year, New Artist for "Cualquier Dia" and Latin Pop Airplay Song of the Year, New Artist for "Hoy ya me Voy;" the 'diva of la banda' Jenni Rivera, recognized with Regional Mexican Album of the Year, Female Group or Female Solo Artist for "Mi Vida Loca" and Regional Mexican Airplay Song of the Year, Female Group or Female Solo Artist for "Mirame;" Duranguense popular band Los Creadorez del Pasito Duranguense de Alfredo Ramirez received accolades for Regional Mexican Album of the Year, New Artist for "Recio, Recio Mis Creadorez" and Regional Mexican Airplay Song of the Year, New artist for "Cada Vez Que Pienso En Ti;" and the late Valentin Elizalde, was honored with Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year and Regional Mexican Album of the Year, Male Solo Artist for "Lobo Domesticado."

Talented actress Aylin Mujica and renowned TV personality Alan Tacher hosted the star-studded event. The event was preceded by the ultra stylish and highly anticipated red carpet arrivals pre-show, which featured the best in fashion and interviews with the stars as they paraded down the carpet just moments before the big show. The red carpet arrivals pre-show was hosted by Monica Noguera and Rashel Diaz, along with Erika Garza and Poncho de Anda from key positions on the carpet.

Extending the awards excitement, on Saturday, April 12, at 7PM/ 6c, Telemundo will air "Reventon Billboard 2008," a special hosted by Natalia Villaveces who will introduce the most surprising and irreverent moments behind the scenes. This special will also feature several characters who will surprise the artists with a lot of humor.
