Court of Appeals
The King Is Dead Lounge Opens
Proletariat 1: Have you heard the news?
Proletariat 2: Shitty market? Global warming? War?
P1: Nah, those are yesterday’s headlines. Soon, The King Is Dead.
P2: Whoa! It’s been ages since we had a good coup.
P1: Not that. The King Is Dead is a new lounge, opening tomorrow next to Grass, its sister restaurant. The space is gilded to the hilt: a 17th-century pulpit, stained glass windows, ornate mirrors. And offsetting the old-world French, modern touches like Lucite chairs, deco chandeliers, and a graffiti wall. We can pretend we’re royals atop plush banquettes, sipping cocktails in oversize goblets.
P2: That sounds great, but I’m starving.
P1: Not to fret. There’s rich fare like truffle French fries and caviar. And top-notch DJs will be mixing house and hip-hop.
P2: Good. There’ll be no dead heir.
The King Is Dead, 10 Northeast 40th Street, Design District (305-573-3355 or kingisdead.com).
