Charting new territory high above Miami’s Brickell Avenue, Area 31 restaurant will open on the 16th floor of the Epic Hotel December 15th. With Executive Chef John Critchley at the helm, hailing from Boston where he worked extensively with world-renowned chef Ken Oringer, Area 31 will feature local seafood with Mediterranean inspiration. Caught from its namesake region Fishing Area 31, an area surrounding Florida and Central America, preparations from ocean to table will be fresh and seasonal with an ecologically-sound focus. Area 31, designed by famed Los Angeles-based designer Cheryl Rowley, will offer a dramatic setting with water views, an outdoor terrace and poolside dining with cabanas and casitas. Master Sommelier Emily Wines, from the highly acclaimed Fifth Floor restaurant in San Francisco, will create the extensive wine list, and Master Mixologist Jacques Bezuindehout, will introduce a selection of innovative cocktails.
Area 31 will open to the public December 15, 2008 for breakfast and dinner; with lunch being added in January 2009. Stay tuned for further details about Miami’s newest jewel.
