Pssst... Yelp's here to let you in on a little secret: reading is hot. And since this week we're in the middle of the 25th annual Miami Book Fair International, we thought it was the perfect time to give you the lowdown on some of Miami's more intellectual pursuits. So swap the sand for a cushy armchair and trade that bikini for some fashionable bifocals, 'cause this Weekly is comin' atcha, book-nerdy-chic style.

Bestseller Books and Books is Miami's largest independent bookstore. Many, including Liz T, even consider it a cultural institution and it's easy to see why: With several locations, guest speakers, and their own gourmet Cafe on South Beach, Nicole M likes it so much she'd visit daily if she could. Must be the complimentary black bean hummus and bagel chips, eh Nicole? The latest addition to the indie literary block is The Bookstore in the Grove, where you'll find Torrey R hanging out, thanks to strong coffee, a friendly staff, their polite dogs policy, and (the kicker) banana bread.

Wanna pick up the latest page-turners without breaking Suze Orman's money rules? Head to your nearest used bookstore for economical and environmentally-friendly indulgence. Beatriz F's pick is the West Kendall Bookshelf for its clean crisp feel and helpful staff, with stacks of classics piled high – a comforting must for any used bookstore. What could be better than reduced, recycled books? Free books, of course! Dig that library card out of your wallet to check out books, movies, and music sans price tag.

If you prefer your novel to be of the graphic persuasion, then swoop in on A and M Comics, where Dan B feels right at home rummaging through the merch. He also suggests directing any questions to Sophocles, the resident expert on all things Marvelous and beyond. Everyone needs a good dose of Zap! and Pow! now and then. Still a skeptic? Steven K insists, "Comics are the most creative media out there." We don't mind, Steven, as long as you're reading something.
