The Big Give

This month’s big give is an organization started by a good friend of mine from Business School who left the corporate rat race to try to make a difference in her community. Their mission and the specific project they need funds for is below. They are making a big difference with their time and energy and need help to raise small amounts of money. Even a $20 donation will really provide a benefit to the kids. Please take a minute to write a check or use paypal.

"Real-World Super Heroes" is an after-school program to provide fun, hands-on community service to kids in K-2d grades. For additional background and current updates, you can check out my blog. (Contributors will also be given access to our password-protected Web site.)

Right now they are accepting donations for the following project:

Painting with Seniors project. We are planning a painting project for our kids to do with seniors residing in the Phelps House at Riverside Goddard Community Center on December 4. A volunteer artist will outline two murals ahead of time, and the seniors and kids will work together to color in the pictures using high-quality acrylic paints. The finished artwork will adorn the recreation room in the Phelps House. The Phelps House has agreed to provide paintbrushes but, after considerable research for the lowest-cost suppliers, we still need a few hundred dollars to purchase the remaining required materials (2 white plastic banners, primer and paints, etc).

Results you can see fast. We have a private Web site where we post photo documentation and written results of all our projects. We will provide access to the site to anyone who contributes within 2 weeks of the project. Because we are a shoestring start-up operation (established just this September), we cannot provide documentation for tax deductions.

You can contribute via check or PayPal. Email aimee.munsell at gmail.com for a PayPal invoice, or make check payable to Aimee Munsell (with memo: Super Heroes) and mail to 336 West End Avenue, Apt. 11E , NY , NY , 10023 .

Thanks again for all the people that have given in the past. If you haven’t donated anything, now is the time to start. Even $20 would really help.
