Daily Candy- new restaurant- Angelo and Maxie’s Steakhouse

New York Strip
Angelo and Maxie’s Steakhouse Opens

New York City’s overrated. Sure, Woody Allen’s funny. And Serena van der Woodsen’s got a great rack (of clothes, people).

But what’s Manhattan got that we don’t?

Not Angelo and Maxie’s. The famed Park Avenue steakhouse opened its doors in the Grove this past weekend.

The two-story venue suits its Miami locale: It resembles a ’30s-era Cuban sugar plantation. The centerpiece, a spiral staircase, leads to the upper level’s party suites and private wine tasting room.

The menu is heavy on the meat (duh). Rib eye, rack of lamb, and Porterhouse steal focus from equally becoming Maine lobster and yellowfin tuna in a soy glaze crust. Steakhouse sides preside: cream spinach, onion strings, mashed potatoes, and fried zucchini.

Adding to the Cuban feel: cigars. Premium brands Cohiba and Montecristo are on hand.

So we Miamians can be the ones blowing smoke.
