VP Manufacturing Needed for Clean Tech‏

We are conducting an executive search for a VP/Director of Manufacturing for a Clean Tech company. (Title depends upon experience.) Prefer candidates already living in the Midwest, Wisconsin, Texas, or California. Working remotely is an option. Relocation is not absolutely required. Depending upon where you live, frequent travel may be required. Company has created highly advanced products that significantly impact the world’s CO2 emissions. Its industry leading products are far more advanced than any competitor. Company has dozens of patents filed. Company is well funded by top VCs. Need candidates with strong manufacturing and plant operations experience from the building materials or building products industry. POSITION: This is senior management position reporting directly to the COO. However, you will only have a small team reporting to you initially. Need someone that can roll up their sleeves and do whatever it takes to get the job done, while building and managing a team.

LOCATION: Prefer candidates already living in the Midwest, Wisconsin, Texas, or California. The first plant will be opened in Milwaukee. You will need to open a total of 15 plants within the next 5 years in the Midwest. Company is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay area. Working remotely is an option. Relocation is an option, but not absolutely required. Depending upon where you live, frequent domestic travel may be required.

COMPENSATION: Compensation includes base, bonus, stock options, 401k and full benefits package. Board is willing and able to put together the right package for the right candidate. The focus is on hiring the best candidate.

MANAGEMENT STYLE/CORPORATE CULTURE: Initially, this position reports directly to the COO. He will only hire someone who is a team player and does not need to be micromanaged. Basically, he prefers to agree to a set of objectives making sure that the objectives are clearly outlined and understood by the individual, then let the individual execute the plan. But, expects the individual to keep him informed of progress. Individual must be able to go to the COO when in need of help. He wants people with new ideas and strong opinions, but able to move in a fast paced, ever-changing start up environment. He needs someone that can hit the ground running. Corporate culture is very team oriented and results focused. There is open communication and exchange of new ideas. This is no place for playing politics. Everyone is very passionate about saving the planet by creating products that significantly reduce CO2 emissions.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

-- Must have held a leadership position within last 12 months with responsibility for Manufacturing at a company that produces building materials and/or building products.

-- Must have a proven and successful track record of setting up manufacturing plants in the building materials industry. Need someone with experience setting up the plants from design through operation, and then handing it off to a plant manager. The first plant will be opened in Milwaukee. You will need to open a total of 15 plants within the next 5 years in the Midwest.

-- Must have expertise working across functions and disciplines from engineering (delivering designs), through the sourcing and purchasing of equipment, through to the installation and shake down of the equipment and plant launch.

-- Must have the ability to design and execute a plant design within capital budget constraints and the ability to deliver a plant operating at target product cost levels. You will have ownership for hitting the targets (e.g. making bricks for $.15 each).

-- Need candidates with significant manufacturing experience from the building materials or building products industry. However, candidates must have a strong desire to get into the Clean Tech industry.

-- Advanced degrees in Engineering (Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, etc), Material Science (or equivalent) required. Board is focused on hiring someone who is very smart, gifted and innovative. Also, need someone who has the ability to just make things happen even in areas where you might not already have experience.

-- Prefer candidates with expertise in conventional cement/concrete, alternative or novel cements, concretes and alternative/novel building materials.

-- Must have the entrepreneurial spirit. Experience working in a dynamic or “startup” environment is preferred.
