POSITION OVERVIEW:

The VP of Communications will be a key member of the Sports Illustrated senior management team and will be tasked with repositioning the Sports Illustrated story with both its consumer base and trade partners. He / She will create a more cost efficient and compelling communications strategy to continue to help message the brand in the most compelling and meaningful way.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The VP of Communications is responsible , in partnership with the senior management team for developing a best in class progressive communications function that manages all aspects of Sports Illustrated communications needs and opportunities across all media platforms and inclusive of Media Relations , Corporate Communication and Public Relations.

• The VP of Communications will manage the communications team (inclusive of one direct report) in the execution of all communications deliverables across the Sports Illustrated Group.

• He / She will plan and implement an ongoing marketing and communications campaign to further propel the SI brand

• He / She Partner with Time Inc and Time Warner Corporate Communications teams on all relevant enterprise communication initiatives
• He / She will raise ongoing awareness and generate “buzz” about Sports Illustrated across all the media platforms

• The VP Communications will Increase visibility and awareness of SI initiatives across consumer, business and trade audiences


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned communications executive and will demonstrate a record of progressive responsibility and accomplishment in driving a communications strategy in support of a compelling brand.


• Minimum of 7 to 10 years experience in all facets of Corporate Communications.
• Demonstrated success with crafting compelling communications strategies and managing a communications department.
• Analytical/strategic thinker, creative problem solver, resourceful, able to initiate change and motivate innovation and creativity
• Internal team-builder; ability to lead and manage initiatives across multiple departments. Proven ability to manage through conflict, driving groups to collective business decisions
• Minimum of 3-5 years management experience with outstanding leadership skills, ability to initiate and provide clear direction to teams supporting any and all communications initiatives
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Dynamic individual who works well within corporate and creative environment
• Hard working and tenacious


Education

A Bachelors’ degree from an accredited and recognized institution of higher learning is required with an advanced degree (MBA, equivalent) ideal.

Compensation

Sports Illustrated intends to attract a superior and world-class Communications executive, and is prepared to offer an attractive compensation package including a base salary, plus bonus.
