25th Anniversary - 2008

The Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) is the gateway for International and Ibero-American film. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2008, MIFF plays a leading role in maintaining and further enriching film culture in South Florida. Miami’s unique geographical and cultural position has made MIFF a premiere venue for showcasing film and fostering film business throughout the year. Cash awards are given in four competition categories: World Features, Ibero-American Features, World & Ibero-American Documentaries, and Short Films. Knight Grand Jury prizes of $25,000 are awarded in dramatic and documentary competitions. Save-the-date: February 28-March 9, 2008.

More than 70,000 people attended the Festival in 2007. In addition, more than 300 filmmakers, producers, talent, and industry representatives from around the world attended the 2007 Festival to introduce their work to Miami audiences and industry professionals. During the last five years the Festival has presented films from more than 60 countries, including 250 East Coast, US, and world premieres, scores of Oscar winners and nominees, and many international prizewinners.

Final submissions (September 1 – November 7, 2007): Features $40; Shorts $20.

· SHORT FILMS – (20 minutes or shorter) Documentary, Dramatic and Animation are accepted and must be at least a Florida Premiere at MIFF 2008

TERMS OF ENTRY

Film submissions must have been completed after September 1, 2006.The film may have screened at up to 2 festivals (1 U.S. and 1 international). The film may not have been publicly broadcast or exhibited commercially in the U.S prior to the Festival.
