"Meditation-in-Motion"

Learn about the favorable effects of the martial arts practice of T'ai Chi at a demonstration sponsored by Easter Seals South Florida. Join Bernard Broussard, a martial arts expert with over 40 years of experience, who will show how T'ai Chi can help balance control, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness and for seniors reduce the risk of falling. Studies show this form of martial arts can reduce pain, stress, anxiety and overall mood disturbances and significantly boost the immune system's function. The demonstration is aimed at seniors, their caregivers and the general public.

NWSA 20th Anniversary Tribute

New World School of the Arts will honor its original Founders and Visionaries at a special tribute cocktail reception, courtesy of Northern Trust Bank and Premier Beverage Company. The dream that began with an ambitious idea 20 years ago has become a reality as NWSA claims its rightful place among the top arts conservatories in the nation. The reality is thanks to the 96 original Founders and all the school's loyal donors, patrons of the arts, community leaders and institutional partners. Guests will enjoy a performance by NWSA students and an art exhibition by visual arts faculty members titled "Medium."

An Evening of Russian Splendor

Meet John Streetman, Director of the Evansville Museum of Art & Science, who will introduce you to the exclusive art of the Fabergé family. Long known for the opulent objets d'art created for the Russian Romanovs and European royalty, family members Theo Fabergé, an 85-year-old grandson, and his daughter Sarah are continuing the tradition with contemporary limited editions, collected as "modern Fabergé." An exhibition of works will be available for sale to benefit the Friends of the Orphans, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of orphaned children in Latin America. There's a wealth of fun activities and creative classes for infants, toddlers and older children underway now at Miami Children's Museum. Little ones and their moms will socialize and learn through art, music and stories at "Mommy and Me" classes, while 3 to 5 year-olds can star in "Let's Pretend" classes, and elementary-aged kids can learn problem-solving in IMACS classes. 6th Annual Miami International Wine Fair
Saturday-Sunday, September 8-9, 3 to 7 p.m.
More than 5,000 are expected to attend this year's Miami International Wine Fair, presented by Infiniti, again a benefit for the American Red Cross. Wines originating in 15 countries will be tasted, many paired with cuisine from some of South Florida's finest restaurants. The 3-day event opens its doors on Saturday and Sunday afternoons for the general public to taste nearly 1,000 different wines, attend wine seminars with leading experts, and to enjoy the Wine and Food Pairing Competition, a one-of-a-kind culinary challenge that brings together top chef/sommelier teams. The VIP Collectors' Club is back offering a larger and more spectacular selection of fine wines. Tickets are $75 for general admission and $120 for the Collectors' Club with 2-day passes available.
