e-incubator Arts events Nov 2-Nov 15 2007

Hello All You Potential Sleep Deprived Walkers:

As you probably know by now, this weekend is the first Miami Beach Sleepless Night cultural extravaganza. There are so many performances to see that it would be impossible to list here (we did list some films showing so see below).

Well, our tenth anniversary season is off to a really good start. The first in our series of Telemundo Talks was a huge success (despite the threat of Tropical Storm Noel) and we should be holding the second session the week after Thanksgiving. We continue to plan some really interesting and relevant programming on the horizon so stay tuned as Incubator 2.0 gets underway.

If you have any announcements or job openings you’d like posted, please send them to Stephanie@eincubator.org the week before you’d like your announcement posted. Have a good one.

I'm looking to cast lead roles for a feature film I'm making called Lamb of God, a film about if Jesus came as a college student. I'm looking for many actors andactresses, but I'm running out of time to fill the role of Paul, a character who is the most powerful person on the University campus. I'd love to shoot his scenes this weekend, hence the reason why I'm running out of time.

If you or anyone you know are interested in reading for a role, please contact me as soon as possible. We're shooting everything on campus, and the time commitment isn't to crazy.

Friday, November 2
Back at Cinema Paradiso for 2 days before heading of to Miniaci.

Just two festival films on the agenda, but by no means a quiet night.

As FLIFF enters its 2nd to last weekend, the competition gets intense with the new indie darling, THE SAVAGES, starrting Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Laura Linney and Philip Bosco. Most critics agree, this will be the indie hit that makes a run at Best Film (as was LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE last year). With just two screenings at Cinema Paradiso, it is "the" ticket of the weekend".

We suggest those that can should definately try for the Friday, Nov 2, 5;45pm screening at Cinema Paradiso, as that word of mouth from that showing will probably propel Saturday to sell out.

However rather then taking their word for it, just read the reviews from Variety, Moving Pictures Magazine, and Filmthreat.com.

Also tonight at 8pm, "AN AMERICAN IN CHINA" a Romantic Comedy about a recent American college graduate (hence the name of the film) looking for direction in life finds it in a rural Chinese village when he meets Mei, an ambitious, beautiful young girl who works two jobs trying to save enough money so she can follow her dream of going to Beijing University.

Between the two film, a music interlude will be performed onstage by Chinese singer is Cindy Xiuqi and the Storyteller, Ramona Rung. (Presented by Worlds Art Now)

For our sponosrs, visiting sponsors and eligible members, the Festival Cafe will be open featuring foods catered by The Chef's Table

Not part of the festival... but at midnight we return to our normal Every other week Friday night screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show!

Play Reading Series

Monday, November 5th at 7:30 PM

Objects in the Mirror…

(…are closer than they seem)

a solo performance piece for the theatre written and read by

Lee Chamberlin

The play addresses the seeming disposability of the world's mounting dead killed by war, indifference to health laws that govern our food supply and urban violence. The play explores the courage with which each of its seven characters copes with loss and the world's indifference to their dead. Knowing where our dead are buried, how and why they died and reverence for their lives and their deaths are the issues that concern this one-woman play.

The performance will be followed by a talkback with the playwright/performer.

Admission is free, no reservations required.

GableStage is located in the eastern section of the Biltmore Hotel, 1200 Anastasia Avenue, Coral Gables. Valet parking is available. Free parking is available in the Biltmore parking area west of the hotel.
