Away from South Florida for close to two years, Havana-born Santos Mendez rejoices in nature and tropical life. Loyal followers can now delight in his poetic and stylized approach to Antillean patios, palm trees, and colonial interiors. His work stems from a life of fulfillment in the interaction between the observation of nature and forging a colorful style. Art critics have praised Santos for his approach to landscapes and still lifes, and interiors that remind us of modernist master René Portocarrero. This first exhibit of his recent work also includes exciting tributes to Caribbean dance and music.
Santos has been the recipient numerous public recognitions including the "Carnival Miami" Award presented by The Kiwanis of Little Havana. He appears in Avancemos, second edition, a textbook for students distributed throughout high schools in the United States and Canada.
Santos is being represented by Cremata Fine Art.
