Michael’s Kitchen Opens


Step right up! Ladies and germs, Michael’s Kitchen in the Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort is now open for show business.

Enter the big top by Acropolis Design, where ringmaster/chef Michael Blum announces “the cure for boring food” and tips his top hat to the thrill-seeking diner.

Munch on popcorn shrimp (shrimp tossed with buttery popcorn) and gape at feats performed in plain view without a safety net: chefs juggling orders and waiters swinging effortlessly from table to table with inspiring stunts of flavor like crispy eggplant caprese, corned beef Reuben spring rolls, and Alaskan king crab risotto with vanilla-rum-passion fruit sauce.

For dessert, Twinkie tiramisu is as cute as a poodle in pompons, and deep dish “pizza” made on a Rice Krispie flies through the air with the greatest of ease.

Good thing no one’s sending in the clowns.
