Jackson Memorial Foundation Golden Angels Gala

"Transitional" is the theme for Jackson Memorial Foundation's Gala which will be held for the first time on the grounds of Jackson Memorial Hospital. Transition and expansion are planned, and gala guests will be feted on the actual site where the renovation and expansion campaign will take place. Party planner extraordinaire Barton G, who continues to amaze guests with his creative talent, promises that this year's gala will be unbelievable and unforgettable. Known for its exception style and flair and unusual entertainment, this dinner-dance and silent and live auction, attracts more than 1,200 of the leading people in town. International Chocolate Festival

The festival continues with a full day of music, art, food and festivities offered for your enjoyment at the Comcast Pangaea World Festival. Aventura Founders Park comes alive with the multi-cultural festivities and an incredible performance of Neil Goldberg's Cirque at 2 p.m. Tickets, available at the gate, are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Proceeds from the weekend benefit the Urban Search & Rescue Team from the Miami-Dade Fire & Rescue Department.

DRI Golf & Tennis Classic

Andria and Javier Holtz, chairs of the 4th Annual Diabetes Research Institute (DRI) Golf and Tennis Classic, have once again put together a fabulous day of golf, tennis and related festivities. They are well on their way to substantially increasing the $1 million they have raised for the cure-focused research underway at the DRI. Golf registration begins at 10 am, followed by brunch and a shotgun start at 11:30. Tennis registration begins at 1:30. Dinner and awards are included in the entry fees - $500 for golf and $250 for tennis. For dinner only the cost is $200.

A Taste of the Garden

Wednesday, January 30 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Chefs from fine restaurants will be offering tastes of their signature dishes and wine purveyors will open their reserves for your pleasure amid the tropical setting at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. The event is organized by the Miami Beach Garden Club as a fundraiser for the Garden and includes a silent auction featuring a variety of services and dinners at local restaurants. A selection of orchids will be for sale. Tickets are $35 p/p in advance and $45 at the event; complimentary valet parking.
