Climate Activism Training
Featured Guest Speaker: Bill McKibben
Miami-Dade College, Wolfson Campus
November 29, 5:00-9:00 pm
Want to learn more about climate activism and what you can do to help fight global warming? If Al Gore’s film changed the way you see the world, this training will show you how to make a huge difference in your community!
Concerned Americans are becoming increasingly aware that global warming is a planetary emergency. Climate experts have made clear that we don’t have much time to act. The only way that we’ll make the big changes that are necessary is if we, the citizens, speak up and are heard by our elected officials. Please join us on Thursday, Nov. 29th for an inspiring keynote address by author and global warming advocate Bill McKibben, followed by activist and advocacy trainings. Trainings led by Mike Tidwell, Director of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, one of the most effective regional climate groups in the country. Leave inspired with concrete skills that will make you a better leader and grassroots organizer in your community.
Bill McKibben is a best selling author and has been a lifelong champion of the environment. His first book, End of Nature, brought global warming into the public eye and is considered a groundbreaking work in environmental studies. His new book, Fight Global Warming Now, provides a hands-on guide to stopping the world’s greatest threat, climate change. In 2006 he launched the largest demonstration, Step it Up, in the fight to stop global warming and show citizens that the power is in our hands.
WHO’S INVITED: People who want to make a difference in the fight to stop global warming in South Florida and in their community. All concerned citizens are welcomed, forward the invitation!
