UM's Center for Latin American Studies is hosting a celebration of hope to show solidarity with citizens of Peru who are working to rebuild their lives after the recent earthquake. The evening features 5 of Miami's finest restaurants: Cacao, Francesco, Jaguar, LaCofradía and Por Fin showcasing their cuisines, complemented by special wine selections, and a silent auction, all to benefit earthquake victims in the small community of Casablanca. Holiday Night for Amigos for Kids

Damon Johnson at Pangaea

Celebrated New York-based painter Damon Johnson unveils his new works entitled "Pearl Harbor." The exhibition at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino's Pangaea Lounge will be followed by a heart pumping after party. Johnson's work has graced the cover of Forbes Magazine's Art Collector's Issue where Forbes called him the "Bad Boy" of the New York art scene. Johnson has had solo shows at the Chelsea Art Museum, National Arts Club, Mark Murray Fine Paintings Gallery in NYC and was the guest of honor at The Tokyo International Art Festival. His work is "urban surrealism," a combination of graffitti techniques, cartooning, hand drawn but seemingly digital pixilation and classic illustrative styles.

2007 Bikers Bash

Friday – Sunday, December 7 - 9

Steven Tyler, Richie Supa and Niki Taylor and other celebrities join more than 30,000 bikers for the 2007 Bikers Bash, a weekend of motorcycling fun in the sun. Police-escorted rides depart from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday at 9:15 a.m., Saturday at 10 a.m., and Sunday at 7:30 a.m. Friday night from 6 to 11 p.m. there's a dinner and entertainment with a fabulous raffle to win a 2006 Dyna Super Glide autographed by the entire Aerosmith Band. Sunday is the world's largest motorcycle parade along I-95 and I-595 to Markham Park, leaving from Pompano Race Track at 8:30 promptly. No late-comers and no cars! Bikers are asked to bring an unwrapped toy on this, the 20th Annual Christmas Toys in the Sun Run. Toys go to local kids, and proceeds from the weekend go to the Boys & Girls Club. $400 per rider for weekend; $300 per passenger; $250 p/p for Friday night only. Mariners Hospital 5K Walk/Run for Wellness

Saturday, December 8 at 8 a.m.

Mariners Hospital, a part of Baptist Health Foundation, is hosting a run to benefit the hospital's Center for Excellence in Nursing, which supports educational programs for Mariners nurses. Participants can register at Mariners Hospital on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. or race day beginning at 7 a.m. at the Montessori School (MM 86.9). Parking available at Montessori, and buses will shuttle runners to the start. At the post-race festivities medals and ribbons will be awarded. The race is certified by Don Nelson of Key West Southernmost Runners Club. Registration fee is $25 race day.

Lanson Champagne Winterfest Black Tie Ball

A highlight of the Fort Lauderdale social season and the most elegant of festivities associated with Winterfest Boat Parade is the Winterfest Ball. Miami Art Museum Ball

One of the most anticipated events of the Miami social calendar, the Miami Art Museum Ball, is held traditionally during the first week of December. Attended by civic leaders, art patrons and international guests drawn to South Florida for Art Basel and related art fairs, the gala crowns a week of exciting art-related events. The 2007 Ball looks ahead to the museum's new home at Museum Park in downtown Miami by taking place at the very site on which the new museum will be built. Proceeds provide vital annual support for MAM's public programs and exhibitions. Tickets range from $600 to $1,000.
