Want to meet some cute soccer boys?!
Well, as many of you know, a community organization with which I am actively involved is hosting a charity soccer tournament this SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3, at Ben Franklin Park, 1200 NW 134 St., North Miami. The teams in the tournament are coed with each team consisting of 8 players (a goalie, and 7 field players) on the field during play. At least 2 of the 8 players have to be female.
There are six teams in the tournament representing the City of Miami, Starbucks, Miami FC, Shook Hardy & Bacon LLP (a law firm), Alma DDB (an advertising agency), and the underlying organization, America SCORES Miami (its board members and staff). Each team will play a minimum of three 40-minute games, with the top 4 teams advancing to the playoffs and the top 2 teams playing for the "championship." The attached contains more information regarding the event.
I write because we need female players on my team, the ASM team. There is absolutely no entrance fee or cost for participating and, for doing so, you actually will receive a complimentary t-shirt and "goodie bag." Food (snacks and lunch), water, and refreshments also will be available throughout the day at no cost whatsoever.
Again, please note that this is a charity soccer tournament geared towards professionals who want to spend a few hours on Saturday having fun, supporting a great cause, and getting some exercise. This is NOT an uber competitive athletic event. No prior soccer, or even athletic, experience is required. All that you need are workout clothes, exercise shoes or cleats, shinguards and, most importantly, a good attitude.
By the way, this will NOT interfere with your Saturday night plans -- the event starts around 10am and, depending on how our team does, ends at 3:30pm, at the latest. Obviously, you can leave at any point during the day.
So, if you and/or any of your girlfriends might be interested in this, please let me know ASAP (because I need to finalize the team roster, and the cap is 15 players).
Thanks!
